摘要: Interlacing equipment may be used to form fabric and to create a gap in the fabric. The fabric may include one or more conductive strands. An insertion tool may be used to align an electrical component with the conductive strands during interlacing operations. A soldering tool may be used to remove insulation from the conductive strands to expose conductive segments on the conductive strands. The soldering tool may be used to solder the conductive segments to the electrical component. The solder connections may be located in grooves in the electrical component. An encapsulation tool may dispense encapsulation material in the grooves to encapsulate the solder connections. After the electrical component is electrically connected to the conductive strands, the insertion tool may position and release the electrical component in the gap. A component retention tool may temporarily be used to retain the electrical component in the gap as interlacing operations continue.

摘要: A fabric-based item may include a housing that is covered in fabric. Areas of the fabric may overlap input circuitry such as button switches, touch sensors, force sensors, proximity sensors, and other sensing circuitry and may overlap other components such as light-emitting components and haptic output devices. The fabric-based item may include control circuitry that gathers user input from the input circuitry and wireless communications circuitry that the control circuitry uses to transmit remote control commands and other wireless signals in response information from the input circuitry. The fabric-based item may have a weight that is located in the housing to orient the housing in a desired direction when the housing rests on a surface. A movable weight may tilt the housing in response to proximity sensor signals or other input. Portions of the fabric may overlap light-emitting components and optical fiber configured to emit light.

摘要: The acoustic fiber transducer has a piezoelectric domain with Young's modulus, Epiezo, and including a non-centrosymmetric crystalline-phase piezoelectric material and inorganic piezoelectric particles. At least one charge collector domain is in electrical connection with the piezoelectric domain and includes an electrically conductive material operative to collect electrical charge generated in the piezoelectric domain. At least one electrical conductor is in electrical contact with the at least one charge collector domain and includes an electrically conductive material operative to transport electrical charge from a charge collector domain to an end of the acoustic fiber transducer as an electrical signal indicative of input acoustic sound pressure on a matrix of textile fibers that includes the acoustic fiber transducer. Outer acoustic energy transmission material has a Young's modulus Etrans, of 0.3 Pa-500 MPa, for matching vibrational modes of the textile fiber matrix. A ratio of Epiezo/Etrans is between about 5 and about 70,000.

摘要: A fabric substrate having a warp direction and a fill direction is provided. The fabric substrate includes a plurality of warp yarns, a plurality of fill yarns. A portion of the plurality of the fill yarns form a hollow channel extending in the fill direction, and the hollow channel contains an encased fill yarn. As such, the encased fill yarn is protected from abrasion, bending, flexing, folding, compression, shrinkage, or expansion of the fabric substrate and remains undamaged after the fabric substrate is woven and subsequently handled or processed. In other embodiments, a hollow channel containing an encased yarn is formed in the warp direction, or hollow channels each containing an encased yarn are formed in both the fill direction and the warp direction.

摘要: Examples are disclosed herein that relate to electronically functional textile articles. One example provides a knitted textile article comprising a first conductive thread and a second conductive thread knit into the article in such a manner as to form a conductive junction separated by a gap. The knitted textile article further comprises a knitted surface texture feature formed at a location that defines an opening over the gap, and an electronic component connecting the gap to form a circuit with the first conductive thread and the second conductive thread.
