Abstract: Example computing devices that are enabled to enter secure operating modes are provided. An example computing device includes a main processor to run an operating system enabled to establish communication from an external device to the main processor via a hardware interrupt handler when the external device is connected to the computing device. The computing device further includes a keyboard controller to detect a lock keystroke sequence at a keyboard, and, in response to detecting the lock keystroke sequence, cause the main processor to halt the operating system and to enter a secure operating mode in which communication from the external device to the main processor via the hardware interrupt handler is blocked.

Abstract: An example computing device comprises a memory to store control instructions, and a processor to: perform a first authentication of the control instructions using a first key; and in response to receipt of a command to enable a second authentication of the control instructions, add a second key to a one-time programmable portion of the memory, wherein the command is signed using the first key, the second key to perform a second authentication of the control instructions with the first key to perform the first authentication of the control instructions.

Abstract: Examples of electronic devices are described herein. In some examples, an electronic device includes a flash memory. In some examples, the electronic device includes a basic input/output system (BIOS). In some examples, the electronic device includes a controller to unlock a region of the flash memory based on a message from the BIOS. In some examples, the electronic device includes an operating system (OS). In some examples, an application in the OS updates instructions in the region when the OS is loaded and the electronic device is in an awake state. In some examples, the controller locks the region after the update.
