The sensor mounting structure offers a greater flexibility in mounting a sensor which detects an operation of an actuation member disposed at an inner wall spaced apart from an outer wall of a cylinder head of a valve gear. A sensor mounting structure for an engine includes a valve gear provided at a cylinder head and a sensor detecting an operation of the valve gear. The sensor is mounted on a sensor mounting hole formed at a head inner wall of the cylinder head covered with a cylinder head cover.

A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine, includes: a throttle operator; an opening degree detector that detects an operation opening degree of the throttle operator; and an electronic control throttle device that opens and closes a throttle valve disposed in an intake passage of the engine, depending on the operation opening degree detected by the opening degree detector. A throttle valve opening degree of the throttle valve is set to include a zero output throttle opening degree angle at which an output of the engine becomes zero between a low rotational speed region and a high rotational speed region of the engine. The operation opening degree of the throttle operator corresponding to the zero output throttle opening degree angle is set to an opening-side angle ratio that falls within a range between 8% and 12%, both inclusive, with respect to a fully-open opening degree of the throttle operator.

A control apparatus includes a throttle configured to adjust an amount of air flowing in an intake passage of an engine, an accelerator opening sensor configured to detect an accelerator opening, a throttle opening sensor configured to detect an opening of the throttle, and a control unit configured to control the opening of the throttle. The control unit includes a setting unit configured to set a target opening and set a control amount of the throttle based on a deviation between the target opening and the opening detected by the throttle opening sensor, and a correction unit configured to, if the target opening is not more than a predetermined opening, set a correction amount of the control amount such that the opening of the throttle becomes large independently of the deviation.

A saddled vehicle includes an air cleaner and a vehicle body movement sensor. The air cleaner takes travel wind in an air cleaner box to purify air of the travel wind and supplies the purified air to an internal combustion engine. The vehicle body movement sensor is received in a recess and measures movement of a vehicle body. The recess is defined by a flat surface that crosses a rear wall of the air cleaner box. This provides a saddled vehicle including a vehicle body movement sensor that is disposed without reducing the volume of an air cleaner box.

A shift control device for a motorcycle includes a transmission that allows switching between a neutral state and a number of engaged shift positions, a shift control section that controls a shift state of the transmission, and an N/D changeover switch that switches between the neutral state and a drive mode for executing automatic shift among the plural shift positions. The shift control device also includes a hand-operated shift switch that allows manual shifting among the plural shift positions, and a foot operated shift control unit that allows manual shifting among the plural shift positions during the drive mode according to an operation of a shift pedal. The N/D changeover switch and the hand-operated shift switch are arranged around a handlebar of the motorcycle. The shift control section is operable to switch between the neutral state and the drive mode by the foot operated shift control unit.
