Abstract: Provided is a seal structure of a belt cover for an internal combustion engine having excellent sealability on the composite mating surfaces of an upper cover, a lower cover, and an inside cover constituting the belt cover. The seal structure of the belt cover for the internal combustion engine according to the present invention includes: an inside cover member disposed on a side of the body of the internal combustion engine; and an outside cover member disposed on a side opposite to the body of the internal combustion engine, and accommodating a timing belt TB in a liquid-tight state together with the inside cover member. The outside cover member is divided into an upper outside cover 4 and a lower outside cover 5. A first seal is formed between the upper outside cover 4 and the inside cover member. A second seal is formed between the upper outside cover 4 and the lower outside cover 5. At a boundary between the first seal and the second seal, a seating portion 36 on which a lower end 32a of a seal member 32 of the first seal is seated is formed by an end upper surface of a male portion 33 of the lower outside cover 5 and an end upper surface of a projecting portion 35 of the inside cover member flush with the end upper surface of the male portion 33.

Abstract: An engine includes: a crankshaft 12; a camshaft 36; and a timing transmission system 37 which has a drive rotation member 45, a driven rotation member 46, and an endless power transmission member 47, and which provides connection between the crankshaft 12 and the camshaft 36. An access window 55 through which the driven rotation member 46 is attached to and detached from the camshaft 36 is opened in an outer end surface 5c of the cylinder head 5. A lid body 57 for closing the access window 55 is jointed to the outer end surface 5c. The outer end surface 5c of the cylinder head 5 comprises a slanted surface 5c which is inclined so that at least a part of an outer periphery of the driven rotation member 46 on a side opposite from the drive rotation member 45 is exposed from the access window 55. Thus, it is possible to facilitate the operation of attaching the endless power transmission member to the driven rotation member and mounting the driven rotation member to the camshaft, and also contributing to downsizing of the engine.

Abstract: A V-shaped engine has a pair of cylinder banks with a V-shaped space defined therebetween, a crank pulley disposed on one end thereof in the direction of a crankshaft, and a transmission case on an opposite end thereof. Abstract: An apparatus for fixedly securing a cylinder head cover to the cylinder head of an engine having a bolt embedded in and projecting outwardly of the engine so as to protrude through a hole in the cover. A cap nut is engaged with the outer end of the bolt for pressing the cover against the cylinder head. A seal packing and a washer are disposed in surrounding relationship to the bolt and confined between the cover and the cap nut. The seal packing includes an annular lip portion which projects axially of the seal packing and passes through a hole in the washer, which annular lip portion is disposed in snug sealing engagement with an end wall of the cap nut in surrounding relationship to the bolt. The washer preferably cooperates with at least two such bolts to prevent rotation of the washer.
