Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for synchronizing uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) traffic. In particular, frames associated with Quality of Service (QoS}-sensitive traffic flows to be transmitted in a first direction are prioritized commensurate with frames to be transmitted in a second direction, different/opposite to that of the first direction. For example, UL traffic flows can be prioritized based on DL traffic flows, where the traffic flows belong to the same application flow, and vice versa, where DL traffic flows can be prioritized based on UL traffic flows for the same application flow. In this way, end-to-end QoS can be achieved.

Abstract: Examples of authentication and firewall enforcement for Internet of Things (IoT) devices are described. In an example, a request to authenticate an IoT device coupled to a network device is sent to an authentication server. The request includes a Media Access Control (MAC) address of the IoT device. A response indicative of successful authentication of the IoT device based on the MAC address is received from the authentication server. The response includes a first attribute indicative of a network address of a remote server to connect with the IoT device. A firewall role for the IoT device is generated based on a combination of an Internet Protocol (IP) address of the IoT device and the first attribute. The IoT device is associated with the firewall role.

Abstract: An example first network device comprising: a memory to store a seed image, wherein the seed image includes instructions to communicate with devices of a predetermined device type, and wherein the seed image excludes instructions to provision the first network device to be fully operational in a network environment; and a processor to boot the first network device in the network environment for a first time, to detect if a second network device of the predetermined device type exists in the network environment, to download a full version of a product image from the second network device in response to the second network device of the predetermined device type existing in the network environment, wherein the full version of the product image uniquely corresponds to network devices deployed in the network environment that includes at least one device of the predetermined device type, to replace the seed image with the full version of the product image, and to provision the first network device to a particular device type corresponding to the network environment that includes the at least one device of the predetermined device type using the full version of the product image.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing enhanced Quality of Service (QoS) network transmissions can be based on an application sub-class or a user class. Systems and methods can include inspecting the information packet having a network level QoS field having a first network level QoS portion and a second network level QoS portion, determining an application sub-class or user class associated with the information packet, tagging the first network level QoS portion of the information packet according to a first network level QoS value, tagging the second network level QoS portion of the information packet according to a traffic priority indication and to a determined application sub-class or user class, and queuing the information packet for transmission from a network element based on the tagged first network level QoS portion and the second network level QoS portion.
