Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a communication method and apparatus. The method includes: An access management network element receives a first message, where the first message includes a positioning request of a terminal device, or the first message includes a location information request corresponding to a terminal device. The access management network element sends a second message to a first core network element, where the second message is for requesting to establish or update a first user plane connection, or the second message is for requesting to select a first user plane connection, where the first user plane connection is used to transmit positioning information of the terminal device. Therefore, the access management network element may select a first user plane network element, to support transmission of the related positioning information of the terminal device by using the first user plane network element.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a positioning method and apparatus. The method includes: A first device receives, in a first system, a first trigger message for starting a positioning procedure. If the first device detects a first event, and the first device access a second system or moves to the second system, the first device sends a first message applicable to the second system. In addition, the first message includes location quality of service (QoS) applicable to the second system. According to this method, a device in the second system can recognize the first message and first location QoS, so that the device in the second system can continue a location service, to maintain continuity of the location service.

Abstract: When a UE that has joined a first multicast/broadcast service and is in a radio resource control inactive state determines that an access network device changes to a first access network device, or when a terminal device determines that a cell changes to a cell of the first access network device, the terminal device may send at least one of a first message, a second message, a third message, a ninth message, or a tenth message to the first access network device. Correspondingly, the first access network device may learn, based on at least one of the first message, the second message, the third message, the ninth message, or the tenth message, that the terminal device moves to a coverage area of the first access network device to receive the first multicast/broadcast service.

Abstract: This application provides a communication method and apparatus for a multicast/broadcast service. The method is performed by a network device and including: obtaining reference location information of a terminal representing a reference location of the terminal. When the reference location of the terminal is inside a service area of a first multicast/broadcast service, triggering a target access network device of the terminal to allocate, to the terminal, a data resource for transmitting the first multicast/broadcast service. When the reference location of the terminal is outside the service area, triggering the target access network device not to allocate, to the terminal, a data resource for transmitting the first multicast/broadcast service. According to the method, when the terminal moves into the service area or moves out of the service area, the network device can dynamically and flexibly interact with an access network device, thereby effectively saving network resources.
