Abstract: A HMF-based phenol formaldehyde resin is provided. The HMF-based phenol formaldehyde resin has the formula In the formula, A includes non-substituted phenol, m-cresol, p-cresol, hydroquinone or disubstituted phenol, B includes phosphate ester, phosphate, phosphine oxide, phosphinate ester or phosphinate, and n is 3-20, wherein the disubstituted phenol has substituted groups including H, halide, C1-C20 alkyl group, C1-C20 alkenyl group, C1-C20 cycloalkyl group, C1-C20 cycloalkenyl group, homocyclic aromatic group or heterocyclic aromatic group.

Abstract: A method of forming a biomass epoxy resin composition includes mixing 100 parts by weight of biomass 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid, 900 to 1100 parts by weight of epihalohydrin, and a catalyst to form a mixture. The method includes heating the mixture to 80° C. to 95° C. to react for 2 to 5 hours to form a ring-opening intermediate product, and adding an alkaline for ring closing the ring-opening intermediate product to form the biomass epoxy resin composition, wherein the catalyst includes 0.8 to 8 parts by weight of triphenyl phosphine and 0.01 to 0.1 parts by weight of 4-methoxyphenol.

Abstract: A biomass-based thermoplastic polyurethane is provided. The biomass-based thermoplastic polyurethane is a reaction product of a composition. The composition includes 1-50 parts by weight of a modified lignin, 50-99 parts by weight of a first polyol, and 40-60 parts by weight of a diisocyanate. The modified lignin has an OH value of less than 3.0 mmol/g. The sum of the modified lignin and the first polyol is 100 parts by weight.
