Abstract: A display device is disclosed including an array substrate including a plurality of pixels arranged in a display region, the display region including a planar region and a curved region, and a sealing layer covering the plurality of pixels and arranged across the display region, wherein the sealing layer includes a first organic insulation layer and a second organic insulation layer, a film thickness of the first organic insulation layer is more than a film thickness of the second organic insulation layer in the planar region, a film thickness of the second organic insulation layer is more than a film thickness of the first organic insulation layer in the curved region, and a hardness of the second organic insulation layer is lower than a hardness of the first organic insulation layer.

Abstract: A method includes: forming, in a first substrate, a display area in which a plurality of pixels including an organic EL light-emitting layer are arrayed; forming, in a second substrate, a plurality of opening areas respectively located in correspondence with the plurality of pixels and a light-blocking area that demarcates the plurality of opening areas; providing a dam material such that the dam material encloses the display area; dripping a filler material to an area enclosed by the dam material; and attaching the first substrate and the second substrate to each other, and fusing together dripped portions of the filler material, thereby bonding the both substrates to each other. The both substrates are attached to each other while being positionally aligned such that borders between the dripped portions of the filler material that is generated by the fusion are located in an area corresponding to the light-blocking area.

Abstract: A column for defining the interval between a TFT substrate and an opposed substrate is formed at a crossing point between a drain line and a scanning line. At the crossing point where the column is formed, the drain line is formed to have a wider width to prevent light leakage. Further, at the crossing point where the column is formed, the scanning line is formed to have a narrower width to prevent increase of capacitance between the drain line and the scanning line. The column is formed at a crossing point corresponding to a specific color, e.g., a blue pixel B, so that a difference in transmittance and in characteristic of thin film transistors due to formation of the column is initially compensated.

Abstract: A space between a lower substrate and an upper substrate including an organic EL light-emitting layer which includes a display region for displaying an image is filled by a dam material which is applied to enclose an exterior edge of the display region and a filling material which is dripped into the interior side of the dam material. The dam material is an epoxy resin with a comparatively high viscosity before hardening and the filling material is an epoxy resin with a comparatively low viscosity before hardening.
