According to one embodiment, a display device includes first and second substrate units, a display function layer, and a drive element. The first substrate unit includes a first substrate, a display unit, and a control circuit unit. The first substrate has a first surface including a display region and a peripheral region. The display unit is provided in the display region, and includes first lines, second lines, switch elements, pixel electrodes, and third lines. The control circuit unit is provided in the peripheral region, and includes a first circuit unit including a third line connection line, and a third line switch. The second substrate unit includes a second substrate and fourth lines. The display function layer is provided between the first and second substrate units. The drive element is provided on the peripheral region. The first circuit unit is partially disposed between the drive element and the first substrate.

To reduce the area of a portion where a plurality of transistors are provided in a region around a display region and to reduce the area of the region around the display region, a display device includes a first transistor and a second transistor each as a transistor, and the transistor includes a connection wiring that electrically connects a semiconductor film and a source-drain electrode to each other via an opening portion provided in an insulating film. The first transistor and the second transistor are adjacent to each other, and there is a clearance between an end portion, on the side of the second transistor, of the connection wiring in the first transistor and an end portion, on the side of the second transistor, of the opening portion in the first transistor.

According to an aspect, a display device with a touch detection function includes a controller, touch wiring that supplies a touch drive signal to drive electrodes, and a plurality of switch groups that are provided for each of the drive electrodes, each of the plurality of switch groups having selection switches. The plurality of switch groups select a drive electrode to be coupled to a touch wiring based on a selection signal from the controller. The selection switches for each of the plurality of switch groups are coupled in parallel with each other between a corresponding drive electrode and the touch wiring, and for each of the drive electrodes, all of the selection switches operate in accordance with the selection signal, couple the corresponding drive electrodes and the touch wiring, and apply the touch drive signal to the corresponding drive electrodes.

A display apparatus which can reduce a parasitic capacitance during driving of driving electrodes based on a self-capacitance detecting method is provided. The display apparatus includes: a plurality of connection wires which are formed in a peripheral area and are connected to a plurality of corresponding video signal lines; a video signal line selection circuit which is connected with a plurality of connection wires, selects at least one connection wire and supplies a signal to the video signal lines; self-capacitance detection wires which extend in a direction intersecting an extension direction of the connection wires and intersects the connection wires; common wires which electrically connect the self-capacitance detection wires and drive electrodes; and transistors which are provided between the self-capacitance detection wires and the common wires. Further, the self-capacitance detection wires extend between a display area and the video signal line selection circuit in a plan view.
