Abstract: An interlocking dead bolt lock and strike assembly having a lock housing enclosing a rotatable actuator for a lock bolt reciprocable between a retracted and a dead-locked position, an idler cooperating with the actuator for a key-operated lock actuation, and an extension on the housing acting to enclose the strike and cover the lock bolt in its projected dead-locked position. The housing may also include a reciprocable flag indicating when the bolt is projected, and an interior tumbler lock mounted on the housing which, when turned to one position allows the bolt to be operated by an exterior tumbler lock, and when rotated to a position 180* therefrom, prevents the exterior tumbler lock from operating the lock bolt.

Abstract: A method of retaining a rotary plug within the cylinder of a lock cylinder assembly where the lock cylinder has a cylindrical opening extending therethrough to receive a cylindrical plug having a stop only at the rear end thereof to align the holes or slots in the plug with the corresponding holes or slots in the cylinder. With the key removed, the tumblers biased across the shear line between the plug and cylinder retain the plug in the cylinder and, when the key is inserted into the plug to align the ends of the tumblers with the shear line and release the plug, a stop on the key extending beyond the plug''s diameter to engage the cylinder face prevents rearward movement of the plug in the cylinder.

Abstract: A spring bolt night latch assembly secured to the door of an enclosure and cooperating with a suitable strike mounted on the door frame and including a spring-biased reciprocable latch bolt in a latch housing and a rotatable knob cooperating with the bolt to retract the bolt from its biased latched position. The knob has a pair of spaced actuating projections, each of which cooperates with a retracting camming surface on one side or the other of the bolt; one retracting surface providing retraction where the bolt will be projected under spring force upon release of the knob, and the other retracting surface cooperating with its knob projection to retain the bolt in fully retracted position. A pivotally mounted pawl cooperates with the latch bolt in projected position to dead lock the bolt.

Abstract: A dual action night latch and lock assembly which is adapted to be secured to the interior surface of a door separate from a knob and latch bolt assembly and acting to latch or lock the door in closed position. The assembly is actuated by a handle on the interior of the door forming an extension of an actuator for a reciprocable bolt or by a key-actuated tumbler lock on the exterior surface of the door. The reciprocable bolt is springbiased to a normal latched position, and the handle and actuator are movable between three positions: the normal latch position, a bolt retracted position and a dead locked position. The actuator and handle includes a detent to retain the actuator in any one of its three positions.

Abstract: A dead bolt lock for use on the interior surface of a door for the entrance of a home or other building adapted for actuation by an exterior tumbler lock or an interior knob, where the dead bolt is projected into a strike or retracted into the lock housing. The lock assembly includes a dead bolt having a pair of rearwardly extending arms, a rotatable knob and a flat spring positioning the knob in either the projected or retracted position of the bolt. The knob includes an internal flange having a camming pin cooperating with a camming surface at the rear end of one bolt arm to reciprocate the bolt and a spaced blocking cam which is moved into a blocking notch formed in the other dead bolt arm when the bolt is projected.
