Thus, the developing device can use a one-component developer, does not require toner having its components subtly adjusted and can cancel toner charged opposite in polarity, to form an image of high quality.

The charge amount control member controls the amount of charges of the developer, by causing the developer fly over the developer carrier, using an AC voltage applied between the developer carrier and the charge amount control member, and by applying the electric charges generated by gas electrolytic dissociation caused by the AC voltage. By this structure, a developing apparatus can be provided which can improve stability of development and image quality, without necessitating delicate arrangement of the component materials of the developer.

The present invention provides an ink follower for an aqueous ballpoint pen having an ink reservoir for directly preserving an ink, and this ink follower comprises at least a gel-like material having a predominantly viscous response and comprising a less volatile solvent having a viscosity of 5 Pa.multidot.sec or less and a hydrophobic thickening agent, and a solid piece having a specific gravity of 0.80 to 1.10. In addition, the present invention provides a ballpoint pen using this ink follower.The ink follower of the present invention is characterized by using the gel-like material having a high flowability and the solid piece for dispersing and absorbing impact. This ink follower has a strong drop impact resistance, in contrast to a conventional gel-like ink control plug. The aqueous ballpoint pen using this ink follower does not lose its function, even when it is dropped from a shelf at a height of 1.5 m.

Press forming for preventing the ball from slipping out from the pen tip of a ball-point pen is carried out twice creating a sealing face brim having a width S and a curvature R substantially equal to that of the ball, inside the front part of the pen tip. Provided in the rear of the ball is a ball seat, and channels and longitudinal backlash which allow the ink to flow to the pen point are provided. Further, the front part of the point assembly may be formed with an open V-shaped tapered portion. A spring which constantly urges the ball forward may be provided inside the point assembly.
