Abstract: An MPAC OTA test system and method are provided that can be used to perform radiated testing of 5G BSs and 5G UEs. The arrangement and number of active probe antennas in the anechoic chamber can be selected based at least in part on a simulation of the channel model of the RC emulator to improve testing while also reducing the overall number of probe antennas that are needed and reducing the channel resources of the RC emulator of the MPAC OTA test system, thereby allowing the overall complexity and cost of the MPAC OTA test system to be reduced.

Abstract: A system for emulating an over-the-air channel for communicating with a device under test is provided. The system comprises an anechoic chamber having NA primary probes and NB secondary probes where NA>NB. The system also comprises a dividing module for dividing NA primary impulse responses {μnA} into NB subsets; and a defining module for defining NB secondary impulse responses {vnB} in terms of the primary impulse responses {μnA} and a set of NB complex sequences {λnB}. In the system, either the primary probes are downlink probes, the primary impulse responses are downlink impulse responses, the secondary probes are uplink probes and the secondary impulse responses are uplink impulse responses, or the primary probes are uplink probes, the primary impulse responses are uplink impulse responses, the secondary probes are downlink probes and the secondary impulse responses are downlink impulse responses.

Abstract: A method for modeling an NR DUT using a MIMO OTA test system including a BTS configured to send and receive RF test signals to and from the DUT, and probes configured to reproduce a three-dimensional fading environment for the DUT placed in a quiet zone of an anechoic chamber in response to the RF test signals. The method includes building CIR files for fading channels provided by a channel emulator in the MIMO OTA test system; selecting preferred CIR files from the CIR files having corresponding channel power levels higher than a threshold corresponding to a minimum power level; and performing bi-directional fading emulation with the fading channels using the preferred CIR files, where remaining CIR files are disregarded. The probes reproduce the three-dimensional fading environment for the DUT in the quiet zone using the RF test signals adjusted by the bi-directional fading emulation with the fading channels.

Abstract: MIMO test systems and methods are provided that eliminate the need for a wired connection between the test system and the antenna ports of the DUT, thereby eliminating the need to open up the housing of the DUT and risk damaging or destroying it. The MIMO test systems and methods also eliminate the need for an anechoic chamber, thereby eliminating the cost and space requirements associated therewith. A suitable non-anechoic, electromagnetically-shielded chamber can be used in the test system that is much less expensive and that has a much smaller spatial footprint than a typical anechoic chamber used in MIMO test systems.
