Abstract: Improved electrical testing of N-port beamforming devices is provided. For testing, an N:1 electrical network is connected to the N ports of the device under test to provide a single test port. This mode of testing can be used to determine parameters of interest (e.g., far field radiation patterns etc.) of the device under test more rapidly than with antenna range testing or with characterization of each port of the device under test. The N:1 electrical network can be passive or active. The N:1 electrical network can be integrated in a probe head to provide probe array testing of beamforming devices. Alternatively, the N:1 electrical network can be integrated with the device under test to provide onboard testing capability.

Abstract: This disclosure provides techniques for impedance matching. A radio frequency (RF) device includes a power detector to determine a transmitter leakage and a post-processing unit to determine a receiver leakage, and determines if isolation is acceptable based on the leakages. The RF device may include a device for measuring antenna impedance. Otherwise, the RF device may select multiple tuner settings (e.g., capacitor values) for test signals to be transmitted and received at a target frequency, determine multiple sets of leakage values, determine multiple reflection coefficients based on the multiple sets of leakage values, and determine an estimated antenna impedance at the target frequency based on the reflection coefficients. The RF device then determines impedance tuner settings based on the measured or estimated antenna impedance. Alternatively, the RF device determines impedance tuner settings using an inverse machine-learning model based on a determined matching impedance.

Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to an antenna calibration method for a beam steering radar. A first set of input voltages is determined for a plurality of phase shifters coupled to a plurality of antenna elements in an antenna array in the beam steering radar, the voltages to control phases of signals for transmission by the antenna array. A first set of input voltages is applied to the antenna array. Radiating signals resulting from the first set of input voltages are measured. Voltage and phase values for the plurality of phase shifters are iteratively optimized to determine voltage and phase value pairs that result in a desired gain for the antenna array. The voltage and phase value pairs are stored in a look-up-table in the beam steering radar.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, over an uplink (UL) via a combination of coherent modular antenna arrays, first transmissions from a first user equipment (UE) and second transmissions from a second UE, wherein the first UE and the second UE are being served by the cell in multi-user (Mu)-multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) mode, determining, based on the first transmissions and the second transmissions, that a probability of the second UE interfering with the first UE in the UL satisfies a particular threshold, responsive to the determining, identifying an adjustment to an UL transmit power for the first UE, and causing the first UE to implement the adjustment to the UL transmit power. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for handling an impaired antenna branch at a radio transceiver device. The radio transceiver device includes a plurality of antenna branches. Channel information is correlated among the respective antenna branches according to a correlation relation. A method is performed by a network node. The method includes obtaining an indication that at least one of the antenna branches at the radio transceiver device is impaired. The method includes, in response thereto obtaining channel information for each of the non-impaired antenna branches at the radio transceiver device. The method includes estimating channel information for each of the at least one impaired antenna branch using the obtained channel information and the correlation relation.

Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for calibrating transmit antenna chains and receive antenna chains of an antenna system. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises obtaining a set of observations from bi-directional sounding of pairs of antennas of the antenna system. Each of the antennas has one transmit antenna chain and one receive antenna chain. The observations are represented by a composite product of transmit calibration weights, receive calibration weights, and signal leakage terms. The method comprises estimating the transmit calibration weights and the receive calibration weights from a decomposition of the composite product. The method comprises calibrating the transmit antenna chains and the receive antenna chains by applying as calibration factors the estimated transmit calibration weights to the transmit antenna chains and the receive calibration weights to the receive antenna chains.

Abstract: An antenna calibration system for a phased array antenna in accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure generally includes: a beamformer corresponding to a subset of antenna cells of a plurality of antenna cells, wherein the beamformer includes a calibration section for comparing a reference signal to a non-reference signal and a first operating antenna within the subset of antenna cells corresponding with the beamformer. In some implementations, the first operating antenna is configured to deliver a first reference signal (mTx) from the beamformer to be received by a second operating antenna for comparison with a first non-reference signal (Rx) in the beamformer, and/or the first operating antenna is configured to deliver a second non-reference signal (Tx) from a third operating antenna for comparison with a second reference signal (mRx) in the beamformer.
