Abstract: Disclosed herein are a backlight unit and a display device using the same. In an embodiment, the backlight unit includes a substrate, at least one light source on the substrate, a lenses placed over the light source, a reflection sheet in which at least one through hole corresponding to the lens is formed, and a reflection ring comprising an opening portion corresponding to the at least one light source, and placed between the lens and the substrate. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, luminance uniformity of the backlight unit can be improved because the reflection ring surrounding the light source is included.

Abstract: The present embodiment comprises: a plurality of light-emitting units; and a reflector including reflector units having spaces formed to receive the plurality of light-emitting units, respectively. Each of the plurality of light-emitting units includes an LED package mounted on a substrate and a light diffusion layer having a groove portion formed on a surface opposite to the substrate in the LED package, wherein the outer circumference of the light diffusion layer faces the inner surface of a reflector unit. In the reflector, the plurality of reflector units are integrally formed, the spaces expand along a direction extending away from the substrate, and a wall forming each of the spaces surrounds the outer circumference of each of the LED package and the light diffusion layer.

Abstract: A backlight unit and a display apparatus including the same are disclosed. The backlight unit includes a support member being concave rearward so as to define an interior space, the support member including a central portion defining a central area of a rear surface of the interior space and a side portion extending outward from a peripheral edge of the central portion while being inclined forward, a plurality of light sources disposed on the central portion so as to radiate light, a plurality of lenses respectively disposed on the plurality of light sources so as to disperse light from the light sources, a reflective sheet covering front surfaces of the central portion and the side portion, and a plurality of scattering members disposed on corner portions of the reflective sheet and protruding from the reflective sheet. The display apparatus includes the backlight unit and a display panel disposed in front of the backlight unit.

Abstract: Provided is a display apparatus. The display apparatus may include a display panel and a backlight provided adjacent the display panel. The backlight may include an optical sheet provided adjacent the display panel, a reflector provided a prescribed distance from the optical sheet, at least one light emitting device provided adjacent the reflector, and a lens provided over a corresponding the light emitting device. The lens may include a lower recess formed on a bottom surface of the lens and provided a prescribed distance over the light emitting device, and an upper recess formed on a top surface of the lens and provided to vertically overlap the bottom recess. The lower recess may include an upper surface that extends from the side surface and having a prescribed shape and curvature. The upper recess may also include a lower surface having a prescribed shape and curvature.

Abstract: An optical lens and a display device including the same are provided. An optical lens includes a first surface having a circular cross-sectional shape, a second surface opposite to the first surface, and a third surface configured to connect the first surface and the second surface. The third surface includes a straight surface extending from a boundary of the first surface and a first curved surface extending from the straight surface to the second surface. The straight surface and the first curved surface extending in a path between the first surface and the second surface. The second surface includes a concave recess recessing in a direction of the first surface and the concave recess includes a second curved surface. Light that has passed through the second concave surface changes a path as the light passes through the first curved surface such that light path can be effectively controlled.
