Abstract:
A control mechanism for a high-voltage generator for supplying voltage and current to an electronic radiation source in high-temperature environments is provided, the control mechanism including at least one voltage feedback loop for monitoring the output of the generator; at least one environmental temperature monitor; a control bus; and at least one control processor. A method of controlling a high-voltage generator that powers an electronic radiation source in high-temperature environments is also provided, the method including at least: measuring the output voltage of the generator; measuring the temperature within the generator's environment, using a control mechanism to modify a driving frequency, and using a control mechanism to modify a driving pulse-train, such that changes in properties of the electronic components of the generator as a result of changes in environmental temperature are characterized and the generator's driving signals modified to maintain optimally efficient input parameters for a specific environmental temperature.
Abstract:
An explosive cartridge comprising: an explosive composition; a deactivating agent that is capable of desensitising the explosive composition; and a barrier element that prevents contact between the explosive composition and the deactivating agent and that is adapted to be at least partially removed on use of the explosive cartridge.
Abstract:
A biodegradable polymer is disclosed having the composition g) from 8 to 80% by weight of a starch modified to include an hydroxyalkyl C2-6 group or modified by reaction with an anhydride of a dicarboxylic acid, preferably hydroxypropylated high amylose starch, a) from 0 to 87.9% of starch, b) from 4 to 11% by weight of a water soluble polymer selected from polyvinylacetate, polyvinyl alcohol and copolymers of ehtylene and vinylalcohol which have a melting point compatible with the molten state of the starch components, c) from 0 to 20% by weight of a polyol plasticiser, preferably glycerol, d) from 0.1 to 1.5% by weight of a C12-22 fatty acid or salt, preferably stearic acid and, e) 0 to 12% added water. The polymers are suitable as biodegradable rigid sheet or flexible film materials for use in packaging foodstuffs.
Abstract:
Oral care devices are provided that are capable of ejecting an air-liquid combination. In some implementations, the oral care devices include an applicator including a passageway within the applicator for directing the air-liquid combination therethrough; a plurality of brushing elements extending from a base at a head of the applicator to free distal ends, the head being sized to fit in a user's mouth; and a flexible nozzle in communication with the passageway and extending outwardly beyond the base at the head, the flexible nozzle configured to direct liquid droplets of the air-liquid combination beyond free distal ends of the brushing elements during brushing.
Abstract:
The invention provides a cDNA sequence of human hepatoma derived growth factor 5 (HDGF5). The present invention also relates to the polypeptides encoded by the nucleotide sequences, the uses of these polynucleotides and polypeptides, and the methods for producing HDGF5 polynucleotides and polypeptides.
