Abstract: A converged device including a first subsystem and a second subsystem, configured to operate in multiple operation modes with varying levels of security. One example provides a method for operating the device. The method includes determining, during a startup sequence of the first subsystem and with a first processor of the first subsystem, a last operation mode for the first subsystem. The method includes determining, responsive to detecting that a SIM is installed in the converged device, a network type for the SIM. The method includes controlling, with the first processor, a first communication interface based on the network type and the last operation mode. The method includes determining, during a startup sequence of the second subsystem and with a second processor of the second subsystem, the last operation mode for the first subsystem and controlling, with the second processor, a second communication interface based on the last operation mode.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting multiple emergency users in a push-to-talk group. The methods include receiving a first emergency alert from a first user device in the push-to-talk group; receiving a second emergency alert from a second user device in the push-to-talk group; causing the first emergency alert and second emergency alert to be provided to each of the console devices in the push-to-talk group; receiving, from the first user device, a first communication and receiving, from the second user device, a second communication; causing the first communication and the second communication to each of the console devices in the push-to-talk group. The methods further include receiving, from a first console device, a selection of one of the first user device and the first emergency alert; and, in response subsequently selectively routing a third communication from the first user device to the first console device and not to a second console device in the push-to-talk group.

Abstract: Devices and systems for providing cross-agency communications at an incident are described. An incident manager determines attributes of devices to be used at the incident, negotiating the devices and device attributes with each first responder agency from which devices are to be dispatched to the incident. The manager controls lifecycles of network slices to provide communication services for the incident. The lifecycle is controlled based on communication from each UE indicating arrival to and departure from the incident, as well as the attributes of the UE.

Abstract: Methods and systems for selecting a talkgroup for a portable communications device. One method includes storing a set of missions in a memory of the portable communications device and receiving a selection of at least one of the set of missions at the portable communications device and therewith creating a selected mission. The method also includes sending the selected mission to a call controller. The method also includes receiving, from the call controller, a talkgroup identifier associated with the selected mission at the portable communications device.

Abstract: A lossless call may be established over a wireless radio network by determining, at a target subscriber device during a received call, that one or more identified media items in a stream of media items of the call being received over a first radio channel was not successfully received, and responsively: continuing to receive first subsequent media items of the call and buffering, instead of rendering at the target subscriber device, the first subsequent media items, requesting the identified media items, receiving by the target subscriber device via an established second radio channel, different from the first radio channel, the identified media items, re-ordering the identified media items chronologically with respect to the buffered first subsequent media items to create the re-ordered subsequent media stream, and rendering, by the target subscriber device, the re-ordered subsequent media stream at a first increased relative rate.
