    摘要: The invention is an improved electrooptic assembly which comprises an electrooptic device mounted on a header and enclosed by a cover with a light-transmissive window mounted therein. The header includes a base plate with two major surfaces and a minor surface connecting the major surfaces with a segment of the cover attached to the minor surface. The minor surface is non-perpendicular to the major surfaces, thus allowing adjustment of the position of the window to achieve optimum emission or detection.

    摘要: A method is provided for the manufacture of a capacitive pickup stylus. In the method of this invention an elongated stylus blank is prepared from a hard dielectric material such as diamond. The blank is formed into an elongated bar having substantially symmetrical diagonal cross-sectional halves along the length thereof and having opposing polished surfaces with one of the polished surfaces being on each of the diagonal cross-sectional halves. Thereafter, one of the cross-sectional halves is masked by a jig or the like and the other half which remains exposed is sputter coated with a conductive material. The coated stylus blank is then machined to provide a tip on a terminal end thereof with the coated polished surface positioned as the rearward electrode carrying surface of the stylus.

The invention is particularly useful for sorting video and audio styli.

    摘要: A stone sorting apparatus for viewing stones individually through a microscope includes a platform having a reservoir adjacent a surface thereof for storing the stones. One end of a rod projects upward through an opening disposed at the bottom of the reservoir, the rod adapted to slide along the opening, and having at the one end a concave indentation facing upward and shaped to support one of the stones. Connected to the other end of the rod is means for sliding the one end of the rod between a first position within the reservoir, and a second position outside the reservoir, whereat the one end is positioned exactly within the field of view of an objective of the microscope such that a stone supported by the indentation is disposed precisely at the focal length of the microscope objective.
