Abstract: A system for offloading management controller traffic includes a data port, an out-of-band port, and a leaf switch. The leaf switch includes a switch application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and an unmanaged chip directly connected to the switch ASIC. The switch ASIC is configured to direct data traffic to the data port and offload baseboard management controller (BMC) traffic to the unmanaged chip. The unmanaged chip is configured to direct the BMC traffic to the out-of-band port.

Abstract: Embodiments generally relate to automatic recovery of a computing system. The present technology discloses techniques that can enable an automatic detection and recovery of a switch device from system malfunctions. According to some embodiments, a watchdog timer can detect switch system malfunctions and send out signals to reset a switch central processor unit. According to some embodiments, the switching functions can be maintained during a reset of the switch central processor unit.

Abstract: A system of booting a computer in which a pair of boots (or dual boots) is provided in the flash memory of the computer. The first flash boot, also called the primary boot, is activated when the computer is turned on, after the POST (Power on Self-Test). The primary boot determines if a secondary boot is stored in the flash memory of the computer. If the secondary boot is not stored in the flash memory of the computer, the primary boot resumes and the computer is booted using the primary boot. If a secondary boot is stored in the flash memory of the computer, the primary boot resumes and is completed, after which the computer is reset and rebooted using the secondary boot.
