Abstract: A network control system for managing a plurality of switching elements that implement a plurality of logical datapath sets. The network control system includes first and second controllers for generating requests for modifications to first and second logical datapath sets. The first controller is further for determining whether to make modifications to the first logical datapath set. The second controller is further for determining whether to make modifications to the second logical datapath set. Each controller is further for receiving logical control plane data that specifies logical datapath sets and for converting the logical control plane data to physical control plane data for propagating to the switching elements.

Abstract: Techniques are described for communications in an L2 virtual network of a customer. In an example, the L2 virtual network includes a plurality of L2 compute instances hosted on a set of host machines and a plurality of L2 virtual network interfaces and L2 virtual switches hosted on a set of network virtualization devices. An L2 virtual network interface emulates an L2 port of the L2 virtual network. Information associated with the L2 virtual switches is collected and provided to the customer.

Abstract: Methods for improving end-to-end congestion reaction using adaptive routing and congestion-hint based throttling for IP-routed datacenter networks and associated apparatus. In connection with forwarding packets between sending and receiving endpoints coupled to one or more networks, one or more network switches are configured to detect current or approaching congestion conditions, generate congestion notification packets (CNPs), and return the CNPs to sending endpoints. The CNPs may be routed using one or more adaptive routing mechanisms to forward the CNPs along non-congested paths or may be forwarded along a fastest path to a sender. The CNPs further may comprise meta-data including a flow identifier associated with a packet sent from an endpoint, a congestion level for the flow, and a timestamp. CNPs may comprise unreliable datagrams that may be received out-of-order, with the timestamps being used to determine whether CNPs should be disregarded at a switch along the forwarding path to the sending endpoint or at the sending endpoint. Endpoint network interfaces implement a congestion-CNP table storing entries associating congested flows with congestion levels.

Abstract: A method and system for maintaining persistent network policies for a virtual machine (VM) that includes determining a name of the VM executing on a first host connected to a first network device; binding the name of the VM to a network policy for the VM on the first network device; acquiring from VM management software, using the name of the VM, a universally unique identifier (UUID) of the VM; associating the UUID to the network policy on the first network device; applying the network policy for the VM on the first network device; subscribing to receive notifications from the VM management software of changes to the configuration of the VM corresponding to the UUID; receiving notification from the VM management software of a configuration change made to the VM corresponding to the UUID; and updating the network policy of the VM to reflect the configuration change of the VM.

Abstract: Distributed computing systems, devices, and associated methods of virtual RDMA switching are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes intercepting a command from an application in a container to establish an RDMA connection with a remote container on a virtual network. In response to the intercepted command, an RDMA endpoint at a physical NIC of a server is created. The method can also include intercepting another command to pair with a remote RDMA endpoint corresponding to the remote container. The intercepted another command contains data representing a routable network address of the remote RDMA endpoint in the RDMA computer network. Then, the RDMA endpoint created at the physical NIC of the server can be paired with the remote RDMA endpoint using the routable network address of the remote RDMA endpoint.
