Abstract: It is disclosed a capacitive touch sensor (10) comprising a support layer (1) and a plurality of sensing elongated elements (2) coupled to said support layer (1), said plurality of sensing elongated elements (2) comprising a plurality of electrically resistive elongated elements (2r), wherein said plurality of electrically resistive elongated elements (2r) comprises a first set (2rx) of electrically resistive elongated elements (2r) electrically connected to a first common node (Nx) configured to be electrically connected to a first input (INx) of a detection device (5), said detection device (5) being configured to provide an output signal (S_OUT) comprising a first output value (OUTx) that is a function of the capacitance value (CRx) of said first set (2rx) of electrically resistive elongated elements (2r). An article comprising the capacitive touch sensor (10) and a method for detecting a touch event on a support layer (1) are also disclosed.

One or more of the elastic core fibers may be an elastomeric material (4) and may be combined with a less elastic fiber (5, 6) to control the returning properties of the conductive elastic fibers. Also provided are fabrics, garments and various devices formed using the conductive elastic yarns and which can be used to perform various electrical sensing operations to monitor and measure various bodily functions and conditions, or performance of a wearer.

It is further disclosed a touch sensor (10) comprising at least one composite yarn (1) according to anyone of the previous claims, and a detection device (5) configured to evaluate the capacitance values (CR, CC) of the electrically resistive yarn (3) and of the electrically conductive yarn (2) of said composite yarn (1), said detection device (5) being configured to calculate the ratio (CR/CC) between said capacitance values (CR, CC) of the electrically resistive yarn (3) and of the electrically conductive yarn (2) and to provide an output signal (SOUT) indicative of the location of a touch event along said composite yarn (1) in function of said ratio (CR/CC).
