The description is the same as for the Parent Specification 1,263,136 but the claims are directed to the feature of the sliding and swinging door assembly wherein opening of side panels 21 by the operation of the sliding panels 23 is effected when these latter partake of a swinging movement to engage the free edges of the side panels 21 to pivot the latter panels so as to give complete access through the opening in the building, e.g. in the case of an emergency or panic to clear the interior of the building of people.
