    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an air conditioner including an outdoor unit and an indoor unit connected to the outdoor unit, wherein the outdoor unit includes: a compressor configured to compress a refrigerant, an outdoor heat exchanger configured to perform heat exchange between outdoor air and the refrigerant, a humidity sensor provided inside the outdoor unit and configured to measure a relative humidity inside the outdoor unit, an outdoor temperature sensor configured to measure an outdoor temperature, and a controller, comprising circuitry, configured to: determine an absolute humidity based on output of the humidity sensor, determine an outdoor relative humidity based on the absolute humidity and the outdoor temperature, determine a dew point temperature of the outdoor air based on the outdoor relative humidity and the outdoor temperature, and determine whether to perform a defrosting operation by comparing the dew point temperature and a temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger.

    Abstract: An air conditioner, and a method of controlling the air conditioner, including a compressor configured to compress a refrigerant, and including a discharge port; an outdoor heat exchanger configured to exchange heat with outside air, and including an upper portion including an upper inlet, and a lower portion including a lower inlet; a first four-way valve arranged between the discharge port of the compressor and the upper inlet; a second four-way valve arranged between the discharge port of the compressor and the lower inlet; and a controller electrically connected to the compressor, the first four-way valve and the second four-way valve. The controller may be configured to control the first four-way valve and the second four-way valve to perform a first defrosting operation which defrosts the upper portion and the lower portion during a heating operation, and control the first four-way valve and the second four-way valve to perform a second defrosting operation which operates the upper portion as an evaporator, and operates the lower portion as a condenser, based on a need for additional defrosting of the lower portion being detected.

    Abstract: An air conditioner is provided. The air conditioner includes an indoor unit including an expansion valve and an indoor heat exchanger, a compressor configured to supply a refrigerant to the indoor unit, a compressor inlet pressure sensor configured to detect a compressor inlet pressure corresponding to a pressure of the refrigerant flowing into the compressor from an accumulator, memory storing one or more computer programs, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the compressor inlet pressure sensor and the memory, wherein the one or more computer programs include computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors individually or collectively, cause the air conditioner to adjust an opening degree of the expansion valve of the indoor unit based on the compressor inlet pressure during a defrosting operation.

    Abstract: An air conditioner including: a compressor; a heat exchanger fluidly connected to the compressor; a pressure sensor provided in a first flow path connecting an outlet of the compressor to an inlet of the first heat exchanger; a temperature sensor provided in a second flow path connected to an outlet of the heat exchanger; and a processor connected to the compressor, the pressure sensor, and the temperature sensor. The processor configured to: acquire a reference index value based on a first reference pressure measured by the pressure sensor and a first reference temperature measured by the temperature sensor, acquire a measurement index value based on a first measurement pressure measured by the pressure sensor and a first measurement temperature measured by the temperature sensor, and display a shortage of a refrigerant of the air conditioner based on the reference index value and the measurement index value.
