Abstract: A refrigeration system to provide cooling during refrigerant leak is disclosed. The system detects a refrigerant leak by detecting that a refrigerant concentration is more than a threshold concentration on at least two occasions. The system executes a mitigation plan until the concentration of refrigerant is less than the threshold concentration. The system determines if it is operated in a safe mode, where in the safe mode, a blower of the system is set to operate continuously. When the system is in the safe mode, the system determines a number of times where the concentration of refrigerant exceeded the threshold concentration. In response to determining that the number of times where the concentration of refrigerant exceeded the threshold concentration is more than the threshold value, the system operate the HVAC system in the safe mode and communicate a first alert message.

Abstract: A method for determining a measure of thermal energy delivered via a VAV box includes receiving an AHU supply air temperature, a VAV discharge air temperature, a space air temperature, and a VAV discharge flow rate. The measure of thermal energy delivered by the VAV box to the space during the first period of time is determined based at least in part on three or more of the received parameters. The determined measure of thermal energy delivered by the VAV box and a determined measure of thermal energy delivered by each of a plurality of other VAV boxes of the facility are aggregated over the first period of time, resulting in an aggregated measure of thermal energy. This may be used to adjust one or more control parameters to achieve a desired balance of energy consumption versus comfort, energy and/or health.

Abstract: A humidity control system includes a humidification device configured to modify an indoor air humidity within a building and a humidity control device that is communicably coupled to the humidification device. The humidity control device is configured to receive a construction factor concerning a structure of the building, determine a plurality of indoor air humidity thresholds corresponding to a plurality of outdoor air temperatures based on the construction factor, receive a real-time outdoor air temperature, and control the humidification device to modify the indoor air humidity based on the plurality of indoor air humidity thresholds.

Abstract: An equipment-management device associated with at least one of multiple pieces of equipment in a building under management, the equipment-management device including a display-information generator, a touchscreen, and an action-control-information generator. The display-information generator generates display information on a management screen wherein icons are arranged, each of the icons including an outer frame and a first area set at one end along the major axis within the outer frame. The touchscreen displays the display information and receives an input of information relating to an operation performed on the management screen. Upon detecting that a slide operation performed on one of the icons of the management screen from the first area through a first slide-operation detecting line set inside the outer frame excluding the first area, the action-control-information generator generates action-control information that switches the power supply of the corresponding equipment on or off.

Abstract: A system and method for crowd-sourced environmental system control and building maintenance includes a server for providing selective access to building occupants and managers. Users are permitted to generate building reports in the form of (i) thermal reports using a thermal report module, and/or (ii) maintenance reports using a maintenance report module. The reports are each geo-located to locations within the building, and are then captured, stored, and aggregated at the server. The aggregated reports are sorted according to their geo-locations and comfort rules are used to (i) permit a manager at a client computer to access the server to respond, and/or (ii) automatically respond and assign a response status to particular reports. An inspection checklist interface is generated and populated to display a list of preventative maintenance tasks, each of the tasks being user-selectable to designate completion, with the updated status of the reports being stored at the server.

Abstract: A refrigeration system includes a tubing system, a sensor circuitry, a fan, and a controller. The tubing system has tubes located adjacent to component of the refrigeration system. The tubes have holes on their surface. The fan is downstream of the tubes. The fan pulls sampled air though the tubes and direct the sampled air toward the sensor circuitry. The controller receives a signal that indicates that the sampled air comprises a mixture of air and refrigerant particles. In response to receiving the signal, the controller determines that there is refrigerant leakage from at least one of the one or more components and triggers a mitigation plan associated with the refrigerant leakage.
