Abstract: An air conditioner includes a compressor, a first heat exchanger, a second heat exchanger, a first valve, a second valve, a first temperature sensor, a second temperature sensor, a first pressure sensor, a second pressure sensor, and a controller. The controller determines a refrigerant leakage based on a detection value of the first pressure sensor while closing the first valve and the second valve when a temperature detected by the first temperature sensor is higher than a temperature detected by the second temperature sensor, and determines a refrigerant leakage based on a detection of the second pressure sensor while closing the first valve and the second valve when the temperature detected by the second temperature sensor is higher than the temperature detected by first temperature sensor.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, and more particularly a method of detecting and mitigating refrigerant leaks in an HVAC system is disclosed. The leak detection system includes a collection chamber locatable proximate a component of the HVAC system. The leak detection system also includes a flowline connecting the collection chamber with the sensor assembly such that the sensor assembly may be located away from the collection chamber and the component. The fan is operable to induce fluid flow from the collection chamber into the sensor assembly and the sensor is operable to analyze the fluid flow and detect a leak of the refrigerant from the component.

Abstract: A refrigerant leakage notifying device includes a refrigerant sensor, a determination unit, a notification unit, and an output unit. The refrigerant sensor detects a refrigerant and outputs a detection signal according to a detection result. The determination unit receives the detection signal outputted from the refrigerant sensor and determines leakage of the refrigerant in accordance with the detection signal received. The notification unit notifies leakage of the refrigerant with at least one of sound and light in a case in which the determination unit has determined that the refrigerant is leaking. The output unit is provided separately from the refrigerant sensor. The output unit outputs a test signal to the determination unit. The test signal is a signal that the determination unit has determined that the refrigerant is leaking in a case in which the determination unit receives the signal.
