Abstract:
A method for processing image data corresponding to temporally successive motions of an object, the method including adjusting a range of a first occlusion region which is estimated according to whether position changes occur in sub-blocks forming temporally successive first and second frames among image frames which display the motions of the object, by using Motion Vectors (MVs) mapped to the sub-blocks and detecting a second occlusion region of a third frame which displays the object that moves between the first frame and the second frame, by using the adjusted range of the first occlusion region.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for motion estimation (ME) of a video in a video system. The method includes estimating an occlusion area by using a pattern map; removing a motion vector which corresponds to the estimated occlusion area from a motion vector field, and outputting remaining motion vectors as first candidate motion vectors; collecting motion vectors which correspond to an area of interest in the input video, detecting a representative motion vector which represents the collected motion vectors, and comparing the first candidate motion vectors with the representative motion vector removing a first candidate motion vector having a difference in a weight value from the representative motion vector which is greater than a first threshold value and outputting the remaining first candidate motion vectors as second candidate motion vectors; and performing a motion estimation operation by using the second candidate motion vectors.

A display method and a display device for optimizing screen brightness of a mobile terminal are provided. The display method includes: determining an external illuminance value based on a sensor signal by detecting by the sensor signal for determining a brightness value of a screen; determining the brightness value of the screen corresponding to the external illuminance value; and outputting an image signal by using the brightness value of the screen.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for motion estimation apparatus in an image processing system are provided. A depth information detector detects depth information relating to an input image on the basis of a predetermined unit. An image reconfigurer separates objects included in the input image based on the detected depth information and generates an image corresponding to each of the objects. A motion estimator calculates a motion vector of an object in each of the generated images, combines the motion vectors of the objects calculated for the generated images, and outputs a combined motion vector as a final motion estimate of the input image.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a motion vector smoothing method. The motion vector smoothing method includes acquiring motion vectors of at least one block of a current image by using a reference image, acquiring a candidate motion vector of a current block, based on a motion vector of the current block, and at least one motion vector of at least one block adjacent to the current block, determining a threshold value of the current block according to gradient values of pixels included in the current block, and determining the motion vector of the current block according to the threshold value.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for performing detail enhancement. The apparatus includes an edge detector that detects an edge pixel from contents based on a luminance component of the contents, a histogram analyzer that generates at least one histogram with respect to the edge pixel and determines a gain variable value of the edge pixel based on the at least one histogram, and a gain regulator that determines a gain corresponding to the gain variable value of the edge pixel.
Abstract:
A method of estimating a quantization table for an image block compressed in image processing is provided. The method including performing a first quantization using a table dictionary that includes a number of candidate quantization tables for the compressed image block; performing edge-related filtering on the compressed image block and performing a second quantization using the table dictionary for the filtered compressed image block; and estimating a quantization table for the compressed image block based on energy costs of the first-quantized image block and the second-quantized image block.
Abstract:
A noise estimation apparatus and method to prevent texture from being erroneously determined as noise, is provided. To this end, the noise estimation method includes generating an initial noise map for an input image signal, generating at least one noise map based on a temporal change of an image signal continuing from the image signal, calculating a correlation value for each region between the initial noise map and the noise maps, and determining noise of an image according to a temporal change based on the correlation value.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reconstructing a low-resolution image is provided. The method includes magnifying a low-resolution image; extracting a high frequency component and a texture component from the pre-magnification low-resolution image; and reconstructing an image by synthesizing the extracted high frequency component and texture component with the magnified low-resolution image. The method and apparatus synthesizes only image components without a separate external DB, making it possible to enhance sharpness of the outline of images and thus effectively reconstruct fine texture components.
