Abstract: A method for random access channel (RACH) procedure in a wireless network by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method includes determining a plurality of signal condition parameters associated with the UE. Further, the method includes determining whether at least one signal condition parameter of the plurality of signal condition parameters meets at least one signal condition threshold from a plurality of signal condition thresholds. Further, the method includes triggering one of a 2-step RACH procedure in response to determining that the at least one signal condition parameter of the plurality of signal condition parameters meets the at least one signal condition threshold, or a 4-step RACH procedure in response to determining that the at least one signal condition parameter of the plurality of signal condition parameters does not meet the at least one signal condition threshold.

Abstract: A method for selecting cell using a fifth generation (5G) user equipment (UE) is provided. The method includes detecting an event, when the 5G UE is camped on a serving cell; detecting availability of one or more voice over new radio (VoNR) cells and one or more non-VoNR cells in vicinity of the serving cell in response to detecting the event; based on the event, performing one of (i) selecting a VoNR cell when only one VoNR cell is available, (ii) identifying and selecting a VoNR cell based on a plurality of cell parameters, when a plurality of VoNR cells are available, and (iii) identifying and selecting a non-VoNR cell from the one or more non-VoNR cells, based on the plurality of cell parameters, when one of the one or more non-VoNR cells is available.

Abstract: A method and a user equipment (UE) for power management by the UE connected to a network are provided. The method includes determining, by the UE, a mobility state of the UE based on satisfaction of at least one of a plurality of predefined conditions, determining, by the UE, a list of priority cells among a plurality of available cells, wherein each priority cell in the list of priority cells is associated with a priority value based on a plurality of predefined priority conditions, and switching, by the UE, the UE to a restricted mobility mode based on the determined mobility state and the priority value associated with each priority cell in the list of the priority cells, wherein switching the UE to the restricted mobility mode includes connecting the UE in one of a first sub-mode, wherein the UE refrains from transmitting a measurement report (MR) and performing cell reselection, for a predetermined time period, if the UE is in an idle state, or a second sub-mode, wherein the UE transmits the MR for a predefined number of times, if the UE is in a connected state and if the UE is configured with infinite MR configuration, wherein the infinite MR configuration corresponds to a number of MR transmitted by the UE until the UE receives a response to the MR from the network.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method for handling handover by a UE (400) is provided. The method includes determining, by User Equipment (UE), whether a measurement identity (ID) of a first neighboring cell and a measurement ID of a second neighboring cell are same. If the measurement ID of the first neighboring cell and the measurement ID of the second neighboring cell are different, the method includes prioritizing sending of a measurement report of the first neighboring cell over a measurement report of the second neighboring cell to a serving cell. If the measurement ID of the first neighboring cell and the measurement ID of the second neighboring cell are same, the method includes splitting a measurement report for the first neighboring cell and a measurement report of the second neighboring cell and sending the measurement report of the first neighboring cell before the measurement report of the second neighboring cell.
