Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method for determining a Public Land Mobile Network, PLMN, with disaster condition by an AMF in a wireless network is provided. The method comprises: receiving a registration request message from a UE: identifying that a 5GS registration type IE in the registration request message is set to a “disaster roaming initial registration” or a “disaster roaming mobility registration updating”; identifying whether a PLMN with disaster condition IE is included in the registration request message based on identifying that the 5GS registration type IE is set to the “disaster roaming initial registration” or the “disaster roaming mobility registration updating”; and determining a PLMN with disaster condition in the PLMN with disaster condition IE based on identifying that the PLMN with disaster condition IE is included in the registration request message.

In an embodiment, the method includes enabling the disaster roaming service at UE and allowing UE to select the PLMN for using the disaster roaming service during the disaster condition in response to determining that disaster roaming is enabled in UE.

Abstract: A method of handling an ongoing call performed by a UE in a wireless network is provided. The method includes initiating a voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) call in a 4th generation (4G) network, detecting that a 5th generation (5G) network entity has configured an inter radio access technology (I-RAT) measurement indicating a change from the 4G network to a 5G network based on identification of the 5G network by the UE, determining whether at least one of the UE or the 5G network does not support a voice over new radio (VoNR) call with a 5G cell in the 5G network, and performing one of delaying sending a measurement report until the VoLTE call is completed in response to determining that the at least one of the UE or the 5G network does not support the VoNR call, or sending the measurement report immediately for the 5G cell in response to determining that both the UE and the 5G network support the VoNR call.

Sending, by the MM core network entity, a response to the UE based on at least one of the processed indication data and the determined network congestion.
