According to the various examples of the present invention, an electronic device comprises: a camera; a display; a communication unit configured so as to establish wireless communication with another electronic device by using at least one protocol; and a processor functionally connected to the camera, the display, and the communication unit, wherein the processor can be configured to: perform a voice call with another electronic device on the basis of a first network; detect a user input for performing a video call with the another electronic device while performing the voice call with the other electronic device; connect the video call on the basis of a second network and display a user interface related to the video call on the display, according to the user input; and display, through the user interface, the image acquired from the camera and transmit the image to be displayed through the second network to the other electronic device. Abstract: Provided are a method and an electronic device for performing an authentication on the basis of biometrics. The electronic device may acquire sensing data by sensing a target to be authenticated. The electronic device may calculate feature information from the sensing data.
