Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for adjusting allocation of uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) air interface resources to user equipment devices (UEs) in a wireless communication system configured for dynamic allocation of relative amounts UL and DL time division duplex (TDD) air interface resources. The wireless communication system may determine usage demand for UL air interface resources relative to DL air interface resources as a function of time of day. Then, based on the usage demand, a schedule may be created for assigning a ratio of UL TDD allocation to DL TDD allocation. Finally, dynamic TDD allocation may be applied to set relative amounts of UL and DL air interface time for UEs served by the wireless communication system according to the schedule, instead of applying unscheduled dynamic TDD allocation of relative amounts of UL and DL air interface time.

Abstract: A first access node that is operating on a first TDD carrier having a first TDD configuration will determine that a second TDD carrier on which a proximate second access node is operating has a different, second TDD configuration, such that there is at least one time interval in which the first TDD carrier is downlink concurrently with the second TDD carrier being uplink. In response to at least this determination, the first access node will then transition to a mode in which, during the time interval, the first access node will operate with reduced transmission power on a frequency portion of the first TDD carrier that is closest in frequency to the second TDD carrier. Further, the first access node could allocate the lower-transmission-power frequency portion for use in transmission to served devices deemed to be in at least predefined threshold high quality coverage of the first access node.

Abstract: A method and system for concurrent transmission of (i) a first bit sequence from a first access node to a UE and (ii) a second bit sequence from a second access node to the UE, when the first access node serves the UE on a first carrier according to a first radio access technology (RAT), the second access node serves the UE on a second carrier according to a second RAT, and the first and second carriers overlap in frequency. Per the disclosure, the access nodes could orthogonally encode their respective bit sequences and could concurrently transmit the resulting encoded bit sequences to the UE on the same frequency as each other.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mechanism to help a user equipment device (UE) transmit multiple distinct bit streams concurrently to a base station with reduced risk of interference. The UE will orthogonally encode the multiple distinct bit streams using orthogonal binary codes to produce orthogonally encoded bit streams, and the UE will add the orthogonally coded bit streams together to produce a resulting bit stream and will transmit that resulting bit stream on an antenna path to the base station. Upon receipt of the transmitted bit stream, the base station could then apply the same orthogonal binary codes to the bit stream in order to extract the underlying multiple distinct bit streams.
