Abstract: An electrical connector having a housing with a mating face and a wire-receiving face. Terminal-receiving cavities extend from the mating face toward the wire-receiving face. A receiving cavity extends from the wire-receiving face to an end wall provided at an end of the terminal-receiving cavities. The receiving cavity has a first section provided proximate the wire-receiving face and a second section provided proximate the end wall at the end of the terminal-receiving cavities. A transition wall is provided between the first section and the second section. A rear cover member is provided proximate the wire-receiving face. The receiving cavity is configured to receive a gang sealing member in the first section or individual wire sealing members in the second section to form a seal between the housing and the respective gang sealing member or the individual wire sealing members.

Abstract: An electrical connector assembly which has a first connector and a second connector. The first connector and second connector have connector housings with first latching areas extending from the top surfaces of the connector housings and second latching areas extending from the bottom surfaces of the connector housing. Sealing members are positioned proximate wire-receiving faces of the connector housings. Rear seal cover members are positioned in the connector housings. The rear seal cover members are configured to cooperate with the sealing members to prevent the rear seal cover members from being latched to the connector housing when the terminals are not fully inserted into the terminal receiving cavities of the connector housings.

Abstract: An embodiment is directed to a grounding terminal for mounting on a grounding surface. The grounding terminal has a top wall having a first mounting opening and a bottom wall having a second mounting opening. The second mounting opening is in alignment with the first mounting opening to receive mounting hardware therethrough. A first side wall extends between the top wall and the bottom wall at angles other than 90 degrees. A second side wall extends between the top wall and the bottom wall at angles other than 90 degrees. As the mounting hardware is tightened, the shape and positioning of the side walls relative to the top wall and bottom wall reduces the amount of torque required to move the top wall toward the bottom wall to allow for the mounting hardware to be tightened without the need for special tooling.

Abstract: A wire harness assembly including a first connector, a second connector, and conductors extending between the first connector and the second connector. Contacts are provided on the second connector. The contacts have termination sections which are mounted on the second connector, compliant sections which extend from the termination sections, and substrate engagement sections which extend from the compliant sections. The substrate engagement sections have curved contact sections which are configured to be positioned in mechanical and electrical engagement with circuit pads of a mating printed circuit board. Embossments are provided on the curved contact sections to provide additional strength and stability to the curved contact sections.

Abstract: An electrical contact includes a contact portion for mating with a mating contact, a wire barrel and an insulation barrel. The insulation barrel has a lead-in projection extending from the insulation barrel toward the wire barrel. The insulation barrel has a first crimping arm and a second crimping arm, with the first crimping arm positioned closer to the wire barrel than the second crimping arm. The lead-in projection is attached to and extends from the first crimping arm. The lead-in projection has a free end which extends proximate to the wire barrel and proximate to an electrical conductor of an electrical wire terminated in the wire barrel. The wire barrel is crimped to the electrical conductor of the electrical wire terminated in the wire barrel and the insulation barrel is crimped to an insulation sleeve of the electrical wire terminated in the wire barrel.

Abstract: A dielectric housing with a forward mating portion, a flange and a rear portion. The forward mating portion is receivable in a cutout in a mounting panel. The flange extends from the housing and is dimensioned larger than the cutout. The rear portion has a rear face with terminal-receiving cavities extending inwardly through the rear face. A top surface of the forward mating portion extends from the flange at an obtuse angle, the top surface is essentially perpendicular to a forward mating face of the forward mating portion of the housing. The terminal-receiving cavities extend from the rear face to the forward mating face, with the longitudinal axis of the terminal-receiving receiving cavities extending in a straight line. The forward mating face of the housing is angled relative to the flange and the mounting panel to prevent condensation from occurring on the forward mating face.

Abstract: An electrical connector with a wire seal member. The wire seal member has seal member openings which extend through the seal member. Recesses are provided proximate the seal member openings and extend about the circumference of the seal member openings, the recesses extend from a first surface of the seal member in a direction toward a second surface. A rear-loaded cover/retainer is positioned proximate the wire seal member. The cover/retainer has cover/retainer openings, the cover/retainer openings are positioned to align with the seal member openings. The cover/retainer openings have projections which are positioned about the circumference of the cover/retainer openings. Wherein as the projections of the cover/retainer are moved into the recesses of the wire seal member, the projections enter the recesses and cause the seal member openings to interact with and seal the wire conductors.

Abstract: An electrical connector having a latch which extends from the first housing surface of the housing. A mounting portion extends from the latch arm to the first housing surface. A first mounting surface of the mounting portion extends at a first angle from the first housing surface in a direction toward the mating connector latching end. The first mounting surface extends from the first latch arm surface at a second angle. The length of the mounting portion as measured between a vertex of the first angle and a vertex of the second angle along the first housing surface is greater than the distance that the first latch arm surface is spaced from the first housing surface. The latch arm is pivotable about the mounting portion. The latch and the mounting portion have low stress concentrations when the latch arm is pivoted about the mounting portion.
