    Abstract: Provided is a chain guide and a chain transmission that can reduce sliding resistance between the chain and guide lips, and can maintain a consistent oil film between the guide lips and outer plates. Guide lips each include a first contact convex portion formed on an upstream end in a chain running direction, and a second contact convex portion formed downstream of the first contact convex portion. The first contact convex portion includes a first peak and a first upstream slope formed upstream of the first peak. The second contact convex portion includes a second peak and a second upstream slope formed upstream of the second peak. The dimension in the chain running direction from an upstream end of a guide rail surface to the first peak is set smaller than a chain pitch.

    Abstract: A transmission guide comprises a synthetic resin shoe supported by and integrally molded with a synthetic resin base by two-part molding. A guide length retaining mechanism, which can be formed by one or more protrusions on the back of the shoe and one or more cooperating recesses on the supporting surface of the base, retains the shoe against longitudinal movement relative to the base. A guide width retaining mechanism, which can be formed by projections on the edges of the shoe and cooperating holes formed in side walls extending from the supporting surface of the base, retains the shoe against widthwise movement relative to the base.

Provided is a chain 20 wherein a plurality of link plates 40 and 60 include outer plates 60, each of the outer plates 60 has a pair of front and rear pin holes 61 into which connecting pins 50 are inserted, a guide-side end surface 62 that faces the side of a traveling guide surface 81a of a chain guide 80, and a concave portion 63 that is formed in an outer surface of the outer plate 60, and the concave portion 63 is formed in an area between the pin holes 61 and the guide-side end surface 62 in a plate height direction.

The guides 110 and 120 include integral or separate guide shoes 111 and 121 each having a chain running surface. The chain running surfaces include, in part thereof, a lubricated area 114 where a solid lubricant P is held.
