摘要: An image reader is provided with a transparent member which is placed in an optical path from the surface of an original document bed on the side of a carriage to a condensing lens, whereby when the transparent member exists at a predetermined position, the condensing lens can be focused on a translucent original existing at a position above the position of a reflection original. When the transparent member is at a second predetermined position, the condensing lens can be focused on the reflection original. The condensing lens can be focused on more than one position simply by placing the transparent member in the optical path, so that the structure is simple and the manufacturing costs can be reduced.

摘要: There are provided an image reading apparatus and a focus adjusting method thereof in which focusing can be accurately conducted by a simple moving mechanism. A condenser lens and line sensor can be moved being integrated with each other. When output values obtained when a document on AF line is read by a line sensor are represented by LS1, LS2, LS3, . . . , and when a broken line graph is considered on which the horizontal axis represents a reading position in the horizontal scanning direction and the vertical axis represents an intensity of an output signal, it is judged that the larger the total distance LM1+LM2+ . . . of the broken lines is, the more accurately the image is in focus. A square root of the sum of the square of a distance between the adjacent reading positions and the square of a difference of intensities of the signals which have been read, is calculated, and it is judged that the larger the sum is, the more accurately the focus is adjusted.

摘要: In order to switch to a light source with a light amount corresponding to the type of original from among a plurality of light sources in a simplified structure without using a specific switching mechanism in reading a transmissive original with a photoelectric sensor while moving, there are provided a platen on which an original is mounted, a line sensor that performs photoelectric conversion on light from the original on the platen, a first carriage that moves along the platen and guides the light from the original to the line sensor, a first housing that stores and supports the first carriage to be movable along the platen, first driving means for moving the first carriage, a second carriage provided with a plurality of rod-shaped light-source lamps that applies light to the original, a second housing that stores and supports the second carriage to be movable along the platen and covers the platen, second driving means for moving the second carriage, and control means for controlling the first driving means, the second driving means and lighting of the plurality of light-source lamps, where the plurality of light-source lamps is spaced in parallel with one another in the moving direction of the second carriage, and due to a signal from means for selecting a single light-source lamp from the plurality of light-source lamps corresponding to the type of the original, the control means controls to move the first carriage from a standby position to a predetermined position, further move the second carriage from a standby position by an amount of movement set corresponding to the selected light-source lamp to position in the predetermined position, and then, move the first carriage and the second carriage at the same speed from the predetermined position to a reading start position of the original.

摘要: The printer includes a print head moveable in a lateral direction perpendicular to the feeding direction of a sheet of recording paper. The print head is supported on a carriage which is reciprocably driven. Different paper feed pitches are selectable depending upon the lateral position of the carriage at the end of printing. A paper feed cam includes two or more feed grooves and pitch changing grooves connecting the feed grooves so that the paper feed means can operate from any selected one of the feed grooves. A cam follower connected to the carriage rides in a groove causing the paper feed cam to be driven by motion of the carriage. Different feed pitches for graphics and text are provided.

摘要: A wiper is provided for use in a vehicle for wiping the windshield glass. A holder is fixed to a baseplate of the vehicle body and, against the holder, an inner bearing is supported so as to rotate about its axis. A pivot shaft is inclined relative to the axis of the inner bearing while being rotatably supported. The driving force is transmitted from a driving source into driving forces for a first driving apparatus for driving the pivot shaft and second driving apparatus for driving the inner bearing. Inversion apparatus or a rotating apparatus always rotates the second driving apparatus either in a direction opposite to or in the same direction as the rotational direction of the first driving apparatus.
