    Abstract: A building system for attaching adjacent wallboard panels together during building construction involving attachment of wallboard panels to members of a building frame, is provided, including a first wallboard panel having a first panel edge; a second wallboard panel having a second panel edge, the second panel edge being adjacent the first panel edge; a bracket defining a first attachment location for the first panel edge, and a second panel attachment location for the second panel edge so that second panel edge is held adjacent the first panel edge; and at least one first fastener securing the first panel edge in the first attachment location, and at least one second fastener securing the second panel edge in the second attachment location.

    Abstract: An attachment system is provided for attaching furring strips to joists, each such joist having a bottom surface, an upper surface and a sidewall. The attachment system for each furring strip including a fastener having a shaft and a head, the fastener secured to the sidewall of the joist in a position vertically displaced from the bottom surface. At least one length of wire is provided with a mid-portion and two free ends, the mid-portion being looped around the fastener. The free ends are wrapped around the furring strip and fastened to each other to securely hold the furring strip to the floor joist.

    Abstract: A gasket for installation in a gap defined by adjacent modular construction units, each having a support frame. The gasket includes at least one layer of structural cement panel; and at least one layer of mineral wool, and the at least one layer of said panel and mineral wool has at least one plate recess configured for accommodating a support plate. A modular building construction is provided, including a plurality of modular units, each unit having a steel frame. Four adjacent units of the plurality form an intersection, and support plates are fastened at upper surfaces of corners formed by each frame. The gasket is disposed in a gap defined at the intersection, the gasket having four plate recesses for accommodating the support plates. In still another embodiment, a method of constructing a building made of modular units including the gasket.

    Abstract: A method is provided for assembling a wall system to an existing frame for a wall, floor or roof, including: attaching a first dense, fiber-reinforced cement panel to the frame, the panel having an interior surface facing the frame, and an exterior surface; applying a layer of acoustic dampening material is applied to the exterior surface; and attaching a second dense, fiber-reinforced cement panel to at least one of the dampening material, the first panel, and the frame. A building panel is provided, including, a first panel of dense, fiber-reinforced cement; an internal layer of acoustic dampening material; and a second panel of dense, fiber-reinforced cement such that the dampening material is sandwiched between the first and second cement panels.
