The invention is directed to methods for making an EC material comprising providing a substrate, applying at least one metal linker to the substrate, applying at least one metal-coordinated organic complex to form a layer, washing the layer, drying the layer, and repeating the applying steps to obtain a multiple layer EC material. The invention is further directed to EC materials made by the methods of this invention.
Abstract:
A hybrid supercapacitor where the charging state is indicated by color is demonstrated. The device comprises a molecular network that functions as both the battery-type electrode and the charge indicator. Related batteries, electrodes and devices, their processes of preparation and methods of use are provided as well. Further included in this invention are data-storage devices and catalysts based on multilayers comprising metal-ion organic complexes. This invention further provides methods of preparation of the multilayers, of the data-storage devices, of the catalyst devices and methods of use thereof.

The present invention provides metal-organic materials, more specifically organometallic polymers, comprising polypyridyl organic ligands such as tetrakis(4-(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)phenyl)methane, tetrakis(4-(2-(pyridin-4-yl)vinyl)phenyl)methane, 1,3,5,7-tetrakis(4-(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)phenyl)adamantane or 1,3,5,7-tetrakis(4-(2-(pyridine-4-yl)vinyl)phenyl) adamantine, and metal ions structurally coordinated with said ligands, and having three-dimensional crystalline micro or sub-micro structure; as well as a method for the preparation thereof. These metal-organic materials are useful as adsorbents in processes for gas adsorption or separation.

The present invention relates to a device having an electrically conductive surface and carrying a molecular assembly, preferably composed of two or more redox-active based molecular components arranged in a specific order or sequence, such that the sequence of the components and their thickness dictate the assembly properties and consequently the uses of the device. Such a device can be used in fabrication of a multistate memory, electrochromic window, smart window, electrochromic display, binary memory, solar cell, molecular diode, charge storage device, capacitor, or transistor.
