Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes an image reader unit that has a plurality of light receiving elements for reading an image on an original, and moves relative to a frame for applying a pressing force to a read-target surface of the original; and a driven roller that is rotatable, comes into contact with the original, and moves relative to the frame and independent of the image reader unit in a direction in which the image reader unit applies the pressing force to the original, thereby applying a pressing force to the original independent of the image reader unit.
Abstract:
At time to start learning feed-forward control and under the status that servo-drive is not put in execution, a positioning error of repeatable runout is detected by means of a positioning error of repeatable runout operation section and on the basis of a value of the positioning error of repeatable runout, a drive pattern and drive interval of idling are determined by means of a feed-forward data operation section. The drive pattern is stored in a feed-forward data memory and is outputted as feed-forward data in synchronism with the rotation of a spindle during drive interval, thus performing idling of a fine-movement actuator. After the idling has ended, control initiation sequence is resumed to carry out learning of feed-forward control.
Abstract:
A magnetic head-positioning system to accurately test a magnetic disk and a magnetic head, comprises a plurality of hinges attached on an end portion of a linear driving element and disposed on both sides of a center line of the linear driving element, which is in parallel with an extension-shrinkage direction of the linear driving element, and an arm having a length longer than a distance between a plurality of hinge joint portions, the plurality of the hinge joint portions each of which join the hinge with a root portion of the arm and which are disposed on both sides of a center line of the arm which is in parallel with a longitudinal direction of the arm. The arm has an extremity portion on which a head gimval assembly is detachably attached and this head gimval assembly is positioned.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with selectively acquiring and utilizing query statistics are described. One example method includes selectively acquiring statistics associated with search queries submitted to a search process during a sample period. The statistics may be associated with an index and tokens associated with the index and search queries. The method may also include selecting tokens and/or queries to optimize based, at least in part, on the statistics. In one example, whether and/or how the tokens and/or queries are optimized may depend on estimating index fragmentation based, at least in part, on the statistics.
Abstract:
A magnetic head-positioning servo system is provided to accurately test a magnetic disk with a track written in advance, by providing two fine actuators. The second fine actuator, to which a magnetic head is attached, is mounted on the first fine actuator. The second fine actuator has a larger generating displacement than a generating displacement of the first fine actuator, and lets the magnetic disk to follow the eccentricity of the track. In this way, the positioning accuracy can be increased.
