Abstract:
A system for the automated regulation of a gas permeation testing system is disclosed, wherein a control system in communication with a data processor facilitates more precise control of a pressurized fluid caused to flow through the gas permeation testing system.
Abstract:
A system for measuring gas permeation through container walls is disclosed, wherein a pressure fluid is introduced into a container to be tested. Once the pressure fluid is introduced into the container, the pressure fluid is drawn out of the container and tested to determine the permeation characteristics of the container.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising a polymer and an exfoliated metal phosphonate are provided. Processes for making such polymer compositions and articles formed from such polymer compositions are also provided. Compositions according to the invention are useful in polymer applications in which barrier properties are of concern, such as in plastic food and beverage containers.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for monitoring the production of blow molded plastic containers (20) includes a columnator (26) and sound detector (24) responsive to a defect sound of pressure fluid escaping from a container being formed in a mold cavity (14). The columnator is effective to filter the defect sound from ambient noise. An output signal generated by the sound detector is processed to generate a control signal used to reject a defective container. Preferably, the open end of the columnator is positioned between 20° and 150° from the preform loading station in a rotary platform (12) blow molding machine.
Abstract:
A container, comprises a first layer of plastic and a second layer of plastic contacting said first layer, the second layer of plastic being formed as a foam wherein the foam cells contain carbon dioxide.
Abstract:
A plastic container comprises an upper section including a neck portion, a closed base section, and a central section interconnecting the upper and base sections. The central section comprises an elastically deformable, substantially cylindrical sidewall, including indicia embossed therein. The embossed indicia substantially assumes the configuration of the sidewall when the container is pressurized, and extends away from the sidewall when the container is depressurized.
Abstract:
Multi-chamber containers are disclosed having at least a central web dividing the container into discrete chambers. A base for the container is provided which is generally outwardly convex having an inwardly arched lineal impression in the region of the juncture between the central web and the base. Outwardly extending foot portions in the base on either side of the lineal impression providing impact support for the container.
Abstract:
An improved process for production and delivery of a plastisol foam is provided. By the process, plastisol foam is maintained under controlled pressures and conditioned to enhance homogeneity and percent foam. Also provided is a process for intermittently dispensing a fluid such as a plastisol foam, by which drip may be prevented. Additionally provided is novel apparatus for preventing drip.
Abstract:
A method and associated apparatus for gas assisted injection molding wherein a quantity of fluid molding material is injected through a first injection flow path in a gas assisted injection molding nozzle into a mold cavity. The injection is then stopped by interrupting the flow of fluid through the first mold cavity, and introducing a time delay if desired. After any time delay, a quantity of pressurized gas or fluid at a first desired pressure is injected into the mold cavity through a second injection flow path which is isolated from the first injection flow path. The pressure is then reduced to a desired holding pressure, and the pressure is held in the mold while the part cools enough to be self supporting, at which time the pressure is vented from the mold cavity, and the part removed. The apparatus used, by isolating the molding material from the gas passages, is able to be of a simpler construction, avoid clogging of the passages, and use larger gas passages, all without the use of any check valves.
