摘要: A method of treating sepsis and septic shock is using a passive simulated exercise device is disclosed. The exercise device functions to increase pulsatile shear stress (friction) to the vascular endothelium. Increased shear stress stimulates release of beneficial mediators from the endothelium into the circulation that promote integrity of the endothelial barrier as well as to prevent its disruption by suppressing inflammation and oxidative stress. The latter is the basis for the deleterious effects of sepsis and septic shock. Failure to control integrity of the endothelial barrier promotes excessive leakage of fluid and proteins from the vasculature into surrounding interstitial fluid that can rapidly escalate into major morbidity, shock and death.

摘要: An elliptical machine includes a transmission unit and two exercise units. The transmission unit includes two transmission rods connected pivotally to a fly wheel unit, and two swing rods each being connected pivotally to a respective transmission rod. Each exercise unit includes a connecting rod connected pivotally to a pedal rod and a respective swing rod. A distance from an intersection of the connecting rod and the respective swing rod to a top end of the respective swing rod is larger than that from an intersection of the respective swing rod and the respective transmission rod to the top end of the respective swing rod.

摘要: An exercise device providing a fore and aft horizontal component of striding motion that is dynamically user-defined, while providing a vertical component of the motion that is maintained on a predetermined vertically reciprocating path in some embodiments. The exercise device guides the user's foot in a pseudo-elliptical stride path, while providing a dynamically variable stride length that allows the user to move with a natural stride length. The exercise device allows tall and short users to extend or curtail the stride length to match their natural stride lengths. The length of the reciprocating path is dynamically adjusted during the exercise operation without equipment adjustments by changes in the length of the stride input by the user at a pair of foot engagement pads disposed on laterally spaced apart foot support members.

摘要: An exercise apparatus with divergent/convergent motion along the symmetric semi elliptical route includes a base frame for supporting all the components of the apparatus, two handlebars move along the symmetric semi elliptical route, two feet pedals move along the symmetric semi elliptical route in harmony with the handlebars, Two link mechanisms to create symmetrical semi elliptical route to support handlebars and feet pedals, power transmission system to connect link mechanisms and synchronize their motion. This apparatus enables user to move hands forward/backward in the same direction so that hands have a lateral divergent motion at the start of the route and lateral convergent motion at the end of the route. By moving hands along the symmetric semi elliptical route a symmetrical variable pressure will be applied on the different muscles. Feet move along the symmetric semi elliptical route in full harmony with hands so that hands move backward/forward in the opposite direction of feet.

摘要: Exercise equipment and toys are provided for a portable piece of exercise equipment that enables a user to perform a cardiovascular workout and develop the abdomen simultaneously. Further, the exercise assembly does not require electrical power to operate, but rather operates from the momentum generated by the user. The user generates momentum by pumping the arms, which crates rotation that twists the torso in a reciprocating path, i.e., left-to-right. Thus, the assembly may be portable, non-powered, and configured to enable both cardiovascular and abdominal workouts through a twisting motion, and from a standing, kneeling, or sitting position.

摘要: A device for training coordinative faculties has at least one movable standing plate; at least one static base plate; at least two connecting elements, the height of which can be modified and which act between the at least one movable standing plate and the at least one static base plate, a user interface; and a control element. The device is designed to specify a sequence of various setpoint positions of the center of gravity of a user standing on the at least one movable standing plate, each of the setpoint positions being specified for a determined duration, and to continuously measure the actual position of the center of gravity of the person standing on the moving plate.

摘要: A proprioceptive enhancement device, including methods of use, is described. The proprioceptive enhancement device includes a sock-like garment, with or without a shoe or other footwear, which mechanically and electrically stimulates cutaneous, subcutaneous, and deep tissue mechanoreceptors and proprioceptors to provide feedback to the user. The feedback causes the user to adjust weight distribution during athletic and non-athletic activities for optimal performance and increased overall health. The device includes additional configurations for electrically grounding the wearer to the earth, which may provide additional health benefits. The disclosure includes a method of using the proprioceptive enhancement device to treat wounds of the foot, including but not limited to venous stasis ulcers, arterial insufficient ulcers, traumatic wounds, and the like.
