    Abstract: A filter element for filtering liquids or gases, having a concentrically arranged filter medium with zigzag pleats. The filter medium is provided with end disks on its axial end faces, each end disk having an inside that is connected to the filter medium and an outside that faces away from the filter medium. At least a first end disk carries a valve element which is situated concentrically inside the filter medium. This valve element includes a valve seat which bulges outward above the plane of the outer side of the end disk. The valve element includes a valve body which cooperates with the valve seat and which is arranged on the first end disk so that it is axially movable and is inside of and surrounded by the filter medium.

    Abstract: An endcap bypass plug is disclosed. The endcap bypass plug includes a body and a plurality of leg members. The body includes an upper surface, a lower surface and an outer side surface joining the upper surface to the lower surface. A central axis extends through an axial center of the body. The plurality of leg members are connected to and extends away from the upper surface of the body. Adjacent leg members of the plurality of leg members are spaced apart by a distance to thereby form a plurality of radial passages defining a plurality of radial fluid-flow paths there between. Each leg member of the plurality of leg members includes: a head portion having an upper surface. The head portion includes a nose portion extending radially outwardly from the head portion. The nose portion includes a ramp surface and a lower surface. The ramp surface of the nose portion is connected to the upper surface of the head portion to define an upper edge. The ramp surface of the nose portion is connected to the lower surface of the nose portion to define a lower edge. An endcap assembly is also disclosed. A filter assembly is also disclosed. A method is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A fluid filter is preferably constructed from a relatively thick batting of high loft, non-woven, fluid permeable fibrous material. The filter batting is then passed through a manufacturing device, which slices the batting in the vertical as to create two continuous filter batts from the parent filter batt. The slicing also creates a relatively deep V-shaped zig zag or waveform pattern in the anterior filter surfaces of the top and bottom of the batt. The top half deep V-shaped zigzag patterns peaks and valleys correspond or line up with the bottom half's valleys and peaks since the waveform landscape of the first child batt is essentially a negative impression of the second child batt. Accordingly, the patterns nest within one another. When separated, the two children batts each comprise a waveform landscape for dynamically directing fluid streams from the anterior filter surface to the posterior filter surface.

    Abstract: A valve assembly that is useable with a fuel filter housing to control the flow of fuel through the fuel filter housing.     Abstract: An adapter clip is provided for a filter assembly that includes a housing, a specialized replaceable filter element, and an extension and locking mechanism for cooperating with the specialized filter element to preclude operation of the filter assembly without a specialized filter element. The adapter clip will render the extension and locking mechanism inoperative and permit the use of a universal filter element.     Abstract: A filter assembly includes housing enclosing a replaceable filter element. A support core is provided in the housing, and includes an extension and locking assembly. The element includes a ring of filtration media with a pair of end caps. The first end cap includes a central opening to receive the support core.
