Abstract:
According to the present disclosure, air cleaner assemblies, components, features and methods are described. A filter cartridge is characterized, that can be conveniently used as part of the system ensuring that a proper cartridge is installed in the housing, in a proper radial orientation and in a manner such that cartridge rotation is inhibited, in spite of the use of a radial seal. The cartridge can be configured to also be used with a housing that includes a utility conduit in an exterior surface thereof. Advantageous features and methods of assembly and use are described.
Abstract:
A filtration device consists of a rotor system (2) which is mounted so that it can be driven to rotate about a horizontal axis (5) in a basin (1) containing a liquid bath, said rotor system consisting of three arrangements (15), for example, each comprising a filter disk pushed onto the tubular cylinder (17) parallel to the axis (5) and therefore being eccentric. The tubular cylinders (17) are fixedly connected to a hollow shaft (18) extending in the direction of the axis (5) for supporting the rotor system (2), this hollow shaft being supported on both ends in bearing units (6, 7) designed as friction bearings which permit a three-dimensional equalization of angle deviations of the axis of the hollow shaft (18). Each filter disk is assembled from segments made of plastic and produced in one piece with coupling pieces as molded parts formed by the injection molding process, so that the axially aligned segments of the filter disks in the state in which they have been placed on the tube cylinders (17) form a continuous filtrate collecting line (23). This yields a design of the rotor system (2) which is structurally simple and permits inexpensive production.
Abstract:
A screen intake has a central body with two screens attached on either end. Each of the screens has an interior that communicates with a hollow of the body via flow modifiers. These flow modifiers include one or more pipes disposed in the interior of the screens and through passages in ends of the body. A flow control support device disposed within the body supports the body's sidewall and divides the hollow into at least two portions—each communicating with flow from one of the flow modifiers. The device can include one or more plates disposed adjacent one another within the internal hollow with a peripheral edge attached to an inside of the body's sidewall. At least one of the one or more plates can be solid, or one or more of the plates can define openings therein allowing passage of at least some fluid therethrough.

The present invention relates to stationary cloth media filtration systems and devices, as well as processes and devices for uniform flow distribution and improved cloth media filter backwashing.
Abstract:
A device for the treatment of an influent with a porous media. The influent passes radially through the porous media and into an internal volume of the device. The treated influent then passes through an open check valve in the internal volume, and then to downstream equipment. During a backwash operation, a backwash fluid is passed into the internal volume of the device in a direction to close the check valve. The blocked path in the internal volume of the device causes the backwash fluid to pass radially outwardly into the porous media and fluidize the same.
Abstract:
Fluted filter media includes filter material having a plurality of flutes formed therein having alternating ends of adjacent flutes closed to force fluid through filter material. A first embodiment of the filter media includes tapered flutes which have the open ends of the flutes larger in cross-section than the closed flutes, wherein the upstream open flutes converge toward the downstream end and the upstream closed end flutes diverge toward the downstream end. A second embodiment includes filter media which is asymmetric formed with dissimilar upstream and downstream flute cross-sections with larger flute openings to the upstream side of the filter. A third embodiment includes filter media with an upstream edge crushed to improve flow at the upstream edge. A fourth embodiment includes filter media with the upstream sealing material recessed from the upstream edge for reducing effects from blockages at the upstream edge of the filter.
Abstract:
Prior art washer designs have segmented radial ducts feeding the filter valve which collect the filtrate emerging from the longitudinal ducts. Because these ducts are radial, the volume at the periphery is much greater than at the valve entry which creates undesirable conditions such as a large volume where air can escape from the filtrate forming a pocket which will reduce the effectiveness of the vacuum and promote non-uniformity in filtrate velocity. The present invention incorporates a baffle in the radial duct which reduces the volume at the periphery and maintains a uniform cross-sectional area for the filtrate to reach the valve. This maintains a constant filtrate velocity and prevents the possibility of the formation of an air pocket.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a mixer-distributor-collector apparatus for use between beds of solid particles in a fluid-solid contacting vessel. The apparatus includes a solids retaining screen, fluid deflector, passageway, fluid distributor, and flow manipulator. The flow manipulator is a device such as a honeycomb, porous solid, perforated plate, screen, or grid having an open area greater than the open area of the fluid distributor and is located below and spaced apart from the fluid distributor. The apparatus improves the fluid flow characteristics by minimizing or eliminating fluid velocity jets and/or other turbulence which can disturb the downstream particle bed. In an exemplary application, the invention finds use in simulated moving bed (SMB) adsorptive separation processes.
Abstract:
A filter underdrain system and a method for measuring the water flow through the underdrain filter system. The apparatus includes panel members assembled to form a perforate grid on the filter base structure of an underdrain block. The panels are generally rectangular and have an upper and lower surface. Multiple apertures are provided in the panel member. The number and/or size of the apertures are dimensioned to prevent the egress of filter media and to obtain substantially uniform backwash flow in the underdrain thereby reducing or eliminating water maldistribution.
