摘要： A combination tension and slub catching device wherein there are relatively fixed and movable members disposed in confronting relation to each other which define a narrow yarn passage, one of which is comprised of a plurality of narrow bars disposed transversely of the path of movement of the yarn and which are individually yieldable as an enlargement passes through the yarn passage and the other which is a rigid bar disposed longitudinally of the path of movement of the yarn, and wherein there is linkage which supports the rigid bar for movement rectilinearly relative to the narrow bars to vary the width of the yarn passage and a device responsive to changes in tension in the yarn connected to the linkage for adjusting the width of the yarn passage with changes in the tension of the yarn.

摘要： Yarn tensioning apparatus particularly suitable for receiving essentially tensionless yarn and giving it a generally uniform output tension level includes friction surfaces across which the yarn is drawn to progressively raise the tension level and work out tangles. The tension surfaces are long, so that, in passing transversely over them, the yarn may take a variety of paths to accommodate the abrupt fluctuations associated with tangle release events. Near the output, a member having a friction nose at one end is pivoted at its opposite end and includes a curved intermediate portion that may swing down to contact a yarn engaging portion of a friction pin; the arrangement being such that an increase in yarn tension causes movement of the member relative to the pin in a direction to produce tension-reducing effects, and vice versa.

In order to be able to effect a finer adjustment of the braking action, the thread take-off eye (5) is displaceable in axial direction relative to the brake ring (8) in such a manner that, with constant brake action of the brake member (2) which merely prevents ballooning, the thread application (alpha 1, alpha 2) on a radially inwardly curved section (3) of the drum is adjustable.

摘要： A wire line includes a flyer payoff and means for controlling the wire discharged from the flyers payoff by a tension system comprising two spaced tensions, the first of which comprises two groups of rolls with the rolls of one group staggered with relation to the rolls of the other group with the groups relatively movable toward and from each other to apply more or less tension on the wire as it leaves the flyer payoff with the tension system also including a second tensioning means comprising a drum and a guide sheave spaced therefrom about which the wire is passed with sufficient surface engagement with the drum and sheave so that they will rotate as the wire passes thereover rather than the wire slip on either, and then applying a friction drag on the drum to retard the rotation and apply a greater amount of tension before the wire passes on to a point to be serviced.
