摘要:
Welding systems and methods include a welding unit for joining a first and a second source of wire, in which the welding unit includes a wire feed tunnel defining a travel path through the welding unit for the first and second sources of wire. The welding unit further includes a pair of wire feed ports disposed on opposite ends of the wire feed tunnel, and a wire joining zone disposed along a portion of the feed tunnel and configured to weld together an end of the first wire source to an end of the second wire source by applying weld heat to at least part of the respective ends of the first and second wire sources. The welding unit also includes a switch configured to adjust the inner diameter of the wire feed tunnel until the inner diameter is substantially the same as the exterior diameter of the first and/or second sources of wire.

Disclosed is a welding wire tangling-prevention device for preventing tangling of a welding wire received in a large-capacity pail pack in the form of a vertically-extending tube-shaped wound body including eccentrically-stacked continuous spiral loops, when the welding wire is drawn out from the pail pack. The device includes a ring member laid on the top surface of the tube-shaped wound body, the ring member including an outer ring having an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the pail pack, and an inner ring having an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the outer ring, a plurality of comb teeth extending from an inner circumferential surface of the outer ring toward the inner ring, and a plurality of comb teeth extending from an outer circumferential surface of the inner ring toward the outer ring, whereby the welding wire is drawn out between the outer and inner rings.

A floating liner for a container of welding wire which floating liner includes a tube having two ends and a passageway extending between the two ends. The floating liner is unsupported between the top of the container and the retaining ring. The floating liner is designed to provide structural support to the wire and added stiffness or rigidity to the wire to inhibit buckling of the wire, knot formation in the wire that can form between the retaining ring and the top of the container. The floating liner has a weight profile that causes one end of the tube to at least partially float above the top surface of a layer of welding wire or retaining ring in the container as the welding wire is paid out of the container.

An apparatus and method for supplying a continuous source of wire includes a base supporting at least first and second sources of wire, a wire joining apparatus adjacent the base configured to weld a first wire from the first source with a second wire from the second source and a swing arm apparatus adjacent the first and second sources of wire. The swing arm apparatus may comprise a swing arm assembly configured to position a source cover over the second source of wire upon depletion of a feed wire in the first source of wire.

This flaw-removal device prevents overlooking of flaws in the automatic flaw-cutting process by rectifying the twist of a wire-shaped metal drawn from a cannon-shaped wire supply stand, further promoting efficiency in removing remaining flaws by applying the automatic flaw-cutting process and removing the uncut flaws by hand. In this invention, a twist-rectifying drum 3 is installed in front of a flaw-detecting device 4. It then becomes possible to rectify the twisting of the wire-shaped metal by winding the wire-shaped metal installed on a cannon-shaped wire supply stand around the twist-rectifying drum in a length longer than one turn of the coiled wire-shaped metal so that the wire-shaped metal is freely mounted on the drum. It also becomes possible to remove an uncut flaw by hand by installing a flaw-check and removal site 10 having a specified span between drawing dies 8 and a wire-drawing drum 9, and by stopping the portion of the wire-shaped metal having uncut flaws at the site 10.

An apparatus for inserting a flattened metal wire, the flat surfaces of which are set vertical, into a cylindrical container while forming the flattened wire into continuous spiral loops, in such a manner that these loops are stacked in this cylindrical container without being twisted with the loop-forming positions therein staggered sequentially, and an apparatus for feeding the flattened metal wire without twisting the loops from the interior of the cylindrical container to the exterior thereof continuously, and more particularly to an apparatus for inserting into and an apparatus for feeding therefrom a flattened copper wire used for electric welding.
