    摘要: A method and system for storing audio, video or computer data media is described. In one implementation, a storage system has a support structure with a first rail and a second rail that are oriented substantially parallel to one another, a carrier having a first attachment member, a second attachment member, a first channel and a second channel. The first rail engages the carrier at the first channel and the second rail engages the carrier at the second channel. Also, a plurality of sleeves are included, in which each sleeve comprises an edge having a first cutout and a second cutout, wherein the first attachment member engages each of the sleeves at the first cutouts of their respective edges, and wherein the second attachment member engages each of the sleeves at the second cutouts of their respective edges.

The enclosure includes a rim arrangement having an L-shaped cross-section extending around the periphery of the optical data storage device. The first film may have an optical couplant on the surface thereof destined for attachment to the optical data storage device. The optical couplant preferably has a refractive index compatible with that of the optical data storage device to minimize losses and distortion of signals. The optical couplant may also be used with the second film.

    摘要: A disk-like recording medium is rotatably accommodated in a case 1 configured by opposing an upper half 2 to a lower half 3. A lower head insert hole is formed so as to extend from an approximate center of an edge surface of an inserting direction to the drive apparatus to a direction oppsite to the inserting direction. An upper accommodating portion 21 having an enlarged shape is formed on an upper surface of the upper half 2 and approximately directly overlies the lower head insert hole. Thus, an edge surface opening which connects with the lower head insert hole is formed on an edge surface of the case on a side of the inserting direction to the drive apparatus. Normally, the edge surface opening is closed by a short side portion 42 of a shutter 4 and the lower head insert hole is closed by a long side portion 41 of the shutter 4. When the disk cartridge is inserted in the drive apparatus, the shutter 4 slides in a direction perpendicular to the inserting direction to open the edge surface opening and the lower head insert hole. In this situation, an upper head on the drive apparatus side is inserted in the upper head accommodating portion 21 in an approximately horizontal direction. A lower head on the drive apparatus side is inserted from a lower side in the lower head insert hole. That is, the disk cartridge is loaded in the drive apparatus in a horizontal state.

    摘要: A recording medium drive apparatus including a detecting device for detecting the presence of recording media in a housing section of the apparatus. The detecting device including a pivoting member having a detecting end which is biased to slide along a side face of a recording medium as the recording medium is transferred to/from the housing section. An auxiliary member is provided to prevent the detecting end from entering a groove formed in the side face of the recording medium, thereby preventing incorrect detection that the recording medium is removed from the housing section. The auxiliary member includes a spring leaf which slides along the side face above or below the groove, and a supporting projection, mounted on the detecting end, is supported by an inner face of the leaf spring, thereby preventing the detecting end from moving more than a short distance into the groove. Thus, a position of the detecting member does not change as over the entire length of the side face of the recording medium, so that a constant detection output can be maintained. Consequently, it is possible to reliably detect the ends of the recording medium as it is transferred into and out of the housing section.

Alternatively, predetermined information is recorded in the first magnetic layer, the direction of magnetization of the second magnetic layer is detected on the basis of a signal reproducing that information, and the direction of a magnetic field to be applied to the magneto-optic recording medium is set on the basis of the direction of magnetization thus detected. In addition, the direction of the magnetic field to be applied to the magneto-optic recording medium is set and the output of a light beam is changed on the basis of the direction of the second magnetic layer detected.

    摘要: A retainer for holding and protecting an optical disk is molded from plastic, to form a thin, flat, rectangular base member having a shallow rectangular cavity in the front surface thereof. A shallow circular cavity is centrally located within the rectangular cavity. The disk is resiliently held within the circular cavity, and can be removed by finger lifting. The retainer's top edge includes a hook recessed into its flat top edge. This hook allows the retainer to be vertically hung from, and perpendicular to, a horizontal storage rod. The retainer includes short, spaced posts located within the top portion of the rectangular cavity. A flat storage envelope mounts on these posts, to overlay the disk's exposed surface. The two external, vertically extending side walls of the base each include a flat, protruding, label surface located at the center of the side wall. Two flat box shaped containers are provided. One container holds a single retainer. Another container holds two disk retainers, or in the alternative a single retainer, a dummy retainer and relatively thick material auxiliary to use of the disk. When a retainer is mounted in a container, its hook is concealed, but the retainer's label surfaces protrude through openings provided in the container.

    摘要: A disc device records or reproduces information in or from a disc stored in a disc cartridge. The disc cartridge includes a casing having a front face with an opening for receiving the disc; and a cover closing the opening of the casing. The cover includes a slider moving along a side face of the casing, a shutter closing the opening; and a hinge part rotatably coupling the shutter to the slider. The disc device includes a stopper contacting the slider when the disc cartridge is inserted into the disc device to restrict movement of the slider in an insertion direction, and a cam part separating the hinge part from a contact region between the shutter and the casing when or before the casing further moves with the stopper restricting movement of the slider and the shutter is pressed by the casing to rotate about the hinge part.
