    摘要: An optical head including a light source for emitting luminous energy recordable on a recording medium, a heat radiating section, in contact with the light source, for radiating heat which accompanies the light emission thereof, and a resin-made bench for mounting and fixing the aforementioned elements, or an optical head having a light source for generating luminous energy required for recording on a disk-shaped information recording medium or reproducing information recorded on the disk-shaped information recording medium; a radiator plate, in contact with the light source either directly or indirectly, for guiding heat which accompanies the emission of light by the light source; an objective lens for focusing light on the disk-shaped information recording medium; an objective lens drive unit for driving the objective lens in the focal and radial direction of the medium; a light receiving element for receiving light reflected from the medium; a sheet-shaped flexible circuit for feeding power to the light source and the light receiving element and communicating signals from the light receiving element; and an optical bench holding at least the light source, the objective lens drive unit, the radiator plate and the light receiving element, in which the radiator plate is brought into contact with a heat transfer section provided in the flexible circuit and, by causing the flexible circuit to guide heat from the radiator plate, heat generated by the light source is radiated through the flexible circuit and the radiator plate.

The second unit applies, to the recording medium, a predetermined magnetic field within a magnetic field intensity range wherein a rate of change of a reproduced signal amplitude at the time of reproduction with respect to a magnetic field intensity becomes large. The relative positions of the second unit and the first unit are adjusted in accordance with a reproduced signal amplitude thus obtained.

    摘要: A magnetic head comprises a core having a first leg, a second leg and a third leg and a coil wound on the second leg of the core. An end of the second leg is formed by a first portion formed by two inclined surfaces and a second portion formed by a flat surface. When a current is fed to the coil, a magnetic field oblique to a magnetooptical recording medium is generated from the first portion of the second leg, and a magnetic field perpendicular to the magnetooptical recording medium is generated from the second portion. Consequently, a magnetic field perpendicular to the magnetooptical recording medium can be applied to the magnetooptical recording medium for recording a signal, while a magnetooptical field having a prescribed angle with respect to the in-plane direction of the magnetooptical recording medium can be applied to the magnetooptical recording medium for reproducing a signal.

    摘要: A multiple-gap head for transferring data to or from a storage medium is disclosed. Data read by the gaps are directed over a plurality of serial data paths where the data are processed and synchronized. In some embodiments, all or part of a data synchronizer is shared by the serial data paths. The data are then assembled into a parallel data stream for delivery to a computer. Reading the data simultaneously with multiple gaps increases by several times the rate at which data can be transferred to or from a storage medium. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, a three-gap head is provided to reduce or eliminate the cross-talk or noise fringe problems which reduce the track density in a storage medium. A signal attenuator and a signal inverter are connected to each of the side gaps and the outputs thereof are summed with the signal originating at the center gap, such that the inverted signals from the side gaps cancel any cross-talk originating at the center gap. Similarly, an attenuator and an inverter are connected between the write data path (leading to the center gap) and each of the side gaps. During write operations the magnetic flux produced at each of the side gaps has the effect of focusing the magnetic flux produced at the center gap, thereby reducing or eliminating the noise fringe of the written data track.
