摘要： A walk-behind lawn mower having a deck with adjustably mounted ground-engaging wheels. A side shield is provided in the form of a metal rod extending longitudinally along one side of the deck approximately following the curvature of the deck and lying between ground level and the lower edge of the deck side wall. To permit vertical movement of the side shield upon encountering minor irregularities in the ground, the rearward end of the side shield is pivotally attached to the rear wheel axle. To permit horizontal movement of the side shield to provide for lost motion upon adjustment of the deck height, the mower deck includes a bracket adjacent to and rearward from the front wheel and the foreward end of the side shield terminates in an upwardly extending portion which extends through a longitudinally extending slot in the bracket.

Opposing grip members (33 and 35) form a channel (42) for receiving the handle pole and two cross channels (34 and 36) for holding the runner holders. One arrangement for use with a trimmer having a skirt includes a substantially horizontal front skirt support connecting the runners together near the fronts of the runners and a substantially horizontal back skirt support connecting the runners near the backs of the runners along with a front clamp and a back clamp for clamping the skirts to the supports.

摘要： A wheeled carrier for a lawn mower and edger which can be of the nylon line type. The mowing and edging tool is yieldably supported on a frame of the carrier to permit multi-directional operator controlled movement of the tool with respect to the carrier by manipulation of handle bars connected to a support for the cutter. The mounting permits steering a front wheel of the carrier by pressure applied to the handle bars. Rear wheels of the carrier are mounted to be fixed in different positions with respect to the front wheel, and parallel to each other to enable moving the carrier in different straight-line directions with respect to its longitudinal axis.

摘要： A mowing machine which extends laterally of a tractor and is connected to the lifting device of a tractor which has a frame and two rotors driven through gearing from the power take-off of the tractor. Each rotor includes a hollow tube driven by gears in the frame which causes the rotor to rotate and each rotor carries two cutter members which are driven by rotation of the rotor and through meshing with a stationary gear mounted from a stationary tube which is coaxial with the hollow shaft in the rotor. Six cutters extend from each cutting member and are thus rotated in a direction opposite that of the rotor at a substantially greater speed. A plate member extends from each hollow shaft which has tines connected thereto for moving crop cut by the cutters under the frame and to the rear. The rotors shield the cutters through about 180 degrees of their rotation. Swath forming members are connected to the frame to receive cut crop moved to the rear by rotors whereby same is formed into a swath. In one embodiment, the hollow shaft includes vanes which receive linked cutter members whereby if a cutter member is broken, the link is then extended to provide a further cutter member.

摘要： A plural-castor-mounted lightweight tubular frame has a central resilient housing-clamping mechanism adapted for holding a string trimmer having a tapered or other conventional-shape housing at a desired level for trimming weeds or grass. Mechanical advantage and threaded adjustment are provided by the clamping mechanism. The handle of the string trimmer is employed as the handle by which the castor mounted frame and the trimmer held in it are directed. Quick detach/quick attach features enable the string trimmer to be used conveniently by itself when desired. Two height-adjustment provisions can be used, a coarse adjustment of clamping-height, and a fine adjustment of threaded connection between threaded shanks of the castor and clamping nuts at the frame that also provides convenient tilt-adjustment of the string trimmer relative to the ground.

摘要： In a walk-behind rotary lawn mower powered by a gasoline engine, two pushbutton-type switches are so connected in the engine ignition circuit that at least one must be actuated for the engine to run. One switch comprises a dead-man control actuated by gripping the mower guide handle. The other is actuated by a treadle so located on the mower deck as to be depressed by one foot of a person who has his other foot in a safe position and who is operating the engine rope starter in a natural, convenient manner. Depression of the treadle also actuates a brake that prevents the mower from rolling.
