    摘要: A device for facilitating the grinding of the working rolls of a planetary rolling mill in which working rolls are mounted together with intermediate rolls in cages which rotate about a support body, a rolling mill having an upper planet roll and a lower planet roll. In order to provide a low cost and economically operating roll grinding device, allowing simple, fast and precise grinding of the working rolls with reduced mill down time, a planet roll (1) is associated with a manipulating device (2) which is moveable in at least three planes or axes of movement and with which the working rolls (3) can be removed individually from the planet roll (1) and fed to a grinding device (5) as well as returned into the planet roll (1).

    摘要: A rolling machine for reducing the cross-sectional dimensions of an elongate workpiece, such as a steel billet, has two pairs of alternately operating rolls, each of which is journalled in an individual roll carrier. Each carrier is rotated about a carrier axis which is inclined at an angle of about 45.degree. to the axis of rotation of the roll journalled in the carrier. The carrier axes form the sides of a square around the passline which is normal to the plane in which the carrier axes are located. As the carriers rotate the two pairs of rolls alternately sweep over the workpiece and intermittently contact and reduce the workpiece in directions which are mutually at right angles. To avoid the formation of sharp edges to the rolled workpiece, either each roll is collared to enclose a workpiece edge, or each carrier additionally carries an edger roll which rounds that edge.

    摘要: A cross-rifled vapor generating tube is formed by rotating a smooth tube within a die at a first spiral lead angle to form a number of spiral grooves on the inside surface thereof and subsequently cold-drawing a number of grooves having a second spiral lead angle to thereby form a number of regularly spaced projections on the inside surface of the tube. The lead angles of the first and second spirally formed grooves are reversed with respect to one another and the sum of their angles equals 20*80*. An improved generating tube is formed when the first and second spiral lead angles do not exceed 43*. In a modified embodiment the second spiral lead angle is zero.

    摘要: This application discloses an improvement in planetary rolling mills, making possible a rolling of flat strip, free from scallop, without the need for a planishing mill to smooth out the scallops which are normally produced by a planetary mill. There is also disclosed how the angle of entry of the work rolls into the slab may be reduced, thus reducing the likelihood of surface defects, or alternatively, making it possible to roll thicker slabs than was possible heretofore on a given size planetary mill. The disclosure teaches that as a particular work roll enters the roll bite, its diametrically opposite work roll engages a cam. The cam has a surface corresponding generally to the circular orbit of the work roll, but is modified so as to deviate from such orbit by a very small amount. An initial deviation may cause the work roll diametrically opposite the rolls which are in engagement with the cam to engage the slab at a more acute angle to the passline, and a final deviation may cause the work rolls which are diametrically opposite rolls in contact with the cam, to follow a path parallel to the passline as they leave the roll bite.
