    摘要: A rotor for a shapemeter is shown in the figure and comprises an inner annulus (6) connected to and spaced from a coaxial outer annulus (7) by means of rubber o-rings (10). The air gap formed between the annuli (6, 7) and the rubber o-rings (10) provide a thermal barrier which greatly alleviates heat transfer between the inner and outer annuli (6, 7) and allows the annuli to be made of materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion. In consequence the inertia of the rotor can be minimised and the thermal stability of the rotor enhanced so that shapemeters using the rotor have improved sensitivity.

    摘要: Rows of perforations which are produced in a plant for the making of webs of tipping paper for use in filter tipping machines are monitored by pneumatic or photoelectronic devices to ascertain the distance between such rows and the nearest marginal portions of the web while the web is transported toward the paster in a filter tipping machine. If the distance between the perforations and the marginal portion deviates from the desired distance, if the perforations are absent and/or if the combined cross-sectional area of perforations per unit length of the web is unsatisfactory, the monitoring system generates signals which are used to warn the attendants so that the attendants can replace the defective web with a satisfactory web and/or to effect segregation of filter cigarettes embodying defective portions of the web.

    摘要: An apparatus for sensing the density variation of a sliver, includes a sliver funnel through which the sliver passes and which has an intake portion, a discharge portion and a chamber formed as an enlarged part of the discharge portion. The chamber is, through a lateral opening, in communication with a source of pressurized air and a pressure sensing device. The pressure sensing device receives pneumatic signals as a function of the variation of pressure in the chamber dependent upon the density of the sliver portion momentarily present in the chamber. The sliver funnel is arranged at an output of a carding machine for receiving a web discharged thereby and for combining the web into a sliver passing through the chamber. The pressure sensing device comprises a pressure-responsive precision sensor which includes an arrangement for converting the pneumatic signals into digital signals.

A non-contact shape sensor of the present invention may include a fluid-emitting sensor head that is biased toward a surface of a moving strip of material by a linear actuator.
