    摘要: A display is disclosed for indicating in the peripheral vision of a viewer the deviation between the actual position of a target and a reference position such as an aiming point. Light sources are arranged around a common circle which is of a particular size such that when viewed from a particular distance, the viewer sees the display by peripheral vision. There are two sets of light sources, one of which indicates the azimuth and elevation deviations of the target from the aiming point and the other of which may be used to indicate range. The direction of azimuth and elevation deviation is indicated by flashing selected light sources around the circle and the magnitude of deviation is indicated by flashing those light sources at a flash rate indicative of the magnitude. Range is indicated by causing the second set of light sources around the circle to illuminate upon attainment by the target of a certain range.

    摘要: A method of dipmeter processing fits a thickness conserving mathematical model to a folded or faulted subsurface sedimentary geological structure, and may be used with vertical as well as nonvertical or deviated boreholes. An initial estimate of the geometry of the structure is made and then used to generate a theoretical dip profile for the model. The dip profile is compared to an actual dip profile recorded in a borehole drilled in the structure. The estimates are modified by an iterated process until satisfactory concordance is obtained between the theoretical dip profile and actual dip profile. The iterated result gives geometric parameters which accurately model the structure. The model is graphically displayed to represent the structure. The model allows the prediction of dip configurations along any other borehole to be drilled in the structure.

    摘要: A detonation system for use with supply of electrical energy has user operable firing console for selectably transmitting unit identification information, firing delay time information and selections from a command set including Output, Delay, Fire (Time), Abort, Power Up (Arm), Input, and Store. The console displays responses or information digested from responses by electrical delay detonators to the commands. The detonators have explosive, a capacitor for storing energy from the supply to set off the explosive, circuitry for charging the capacitor from the supply and transferring the energy from the capacitor to the explosive in response to first and second signals generated in response to the commands. Each detonator can be programmed with a unique identification number and delay time. The time base in each detonator can be compensated so that errors in the time base are obviated so as to achieve the correct delay. Security code circuitry and software are described so that each detonator can only be set off by authorized users.

    摘要: A mortar fire control system for indicating azimuth, elevation and cant alar orientations of a mortar barrel. The system comprises a 3-axis optical head mounted adjacent the mortar barrel which emits light pulses in two predetermined directions, 90.degree. apart, towards aiming stakes. Two aiming stakes located at approximately 50 meters and 100 meters from the mortar are aligned along one of the predetermined directions while a third aiming stake is situated 90.degree. away from the first two aiming stakes and at a distance of approximately 50 meters from the mortar. Each of the aiming stakes is provided with an optical transponder for receiving the light pulses emitted from the optical head and for retransmitting a light pulse to said optical head. The light pulses received by the optical head are converted into digital information representative of the azimuth, elevation and cant angular orientations of the mortar barrel relative to predetermined initial values of each of these three parameters.
