摘要: A ferromagnetic ink is formed by a dispersion of ferromagnetic particles mixed with an ink base. Drops of the ink are ejected from an inkjet printhead to print characters or markings onto a print media sheet. To resist clogging printhead nozzles, the dispersed ferromagnetic particles have an average diameter equal to or less than approximately 1/10 of the average nozzle diameter. A magnetic field is applied to the ejected ink drops during printing to direct, or more specifically bias, the ink drops toward the print media. The magnetic "biasing" force aids in maintaining drop shape along the ejection path, and in reducing bounce. As a result, edge roughness and spray are decreased so as to improve print quality. In alternative embodiments, the magnetic field source is formed by a permanent magnet or electromagnet. Such a field source is integral to or adjacent to a printer platen. The field source is located adjacent to the printhead and in several embodiments extends along the scan path of the printhead. In one embodiment the field source is formed on the ink cartridge.

摘要: In an ink jet recorder, a ferrofluid ink is supplied under pressure to a nozzle to form a continuous ink jet stream. The jet stream is subjected to two or more perturbation forces out-of-phase with each other causing the satellites and drops to fast merge. Plural electromagnetic transducers are located at spaced locations along the stream and energized to produce out-of-phase perturbations on the stream. The spacing of the transducers is differentially related to spacing of varicosities or ink drops produced by first transducer. The out-of-phase perturbations can also be obtained using an electromechanical transducer and electromagnetic transducers located out-of-phase or energized out-of-phase with each other.

摘要: An inkjet head device comprises a body comprising light emitting devices, a nozzle installed on a lower side of the body to spray the light emitting devices onto the substrate in units of droplets, and a first guide part disposed in the body to guide the light emitting devices to the nozzle in a line. Since the light emitting devices arranged in a line by the first guide part are dropped on the substrate in units of a predetermined amount of droplets, the number of light emitting devices included in each droplet may be the same or similar. Thus, since the same or similar number of light-emitting elements are disposed or aligned in each sub-pixel, the luminance in each sub-pixel obtained by the light-emitting elements can be uniform.

摘要: An electrohydrodynamic print head includes a plurality of nozzles and a common electrode. Separately controllable electrostatic fields between the common electrode and each nozzle are provided. The common electrode can also shield adjacent electrostatic fields from each other. Each nozzle can be associated with separately controllable gas flow fields and separately back pressures. The print head enables simultaneous e-jet printing of different printing fluids and/or different resolutions. The print head may be part of a printing system with interchangeable cartridges. Each cartridge has multiple nozzles, and printing fluid extraction parameters can be made separately controllable for each nozzle.

摘要: A line printer has a print head with plural nozzles arranged in a single row generally transverse to the direction of relative motion of the print head and a print medium. The nozzles are spaced plural dot positions from each other corresponding to a plural dot segment of a single dot matrix character stroke. When the row of nozzles is slanted relative to the direction of motion, drops from the nozzles are used to print stroke segments in plural character strokes simultaneously.

摘要: In a magnetic ink jet printer a continuous stream of ferrofluid ink drops is projected toward a print medium. A magnetic selector located proximate the stream is operated in synchronism with the flight of the ink drops for deflecting individual unwanted ink drops into a drop catcher. Due to fringing effects produced by the selector when unwanted drops are selected, adjacent print drops are deflected a lesser amount from the initial stream trajectory. Print drops not affected by the fringe magnetic field produced to select unwanted drops are subjected to a compensation deflection depending on their position relative to the unwanted drops so that all print drops follow the same trajectory, after passing the magnetic selector in their travel through a vertical deflector and deposition onto the print medium.

摘要: One or more magnetic fields having non-uniform gradients is periodically applied to a magnetic liquid stream, which is preferably isotropic and virtually free of remanence, to create perturbations in the stream so as to form droplets therefrom with substantially uniform spacing and of substantially uniform size. If more than one of the magnetic fields is applied, the maximum strength of each field is spaced an integral multiple wave length from the maximum strength of the adjacent magnetic field with each magnetic field having substantially the same maximum strength. The wave length of the perturbation is preferably between 4d and 8d where d is the diameter of the stream.

摘要: An ink jet printer prints dot matrix characters by removing unwanted drops from a sequence of uniformly spaced drops in an ink jet stream and subjecting the remaining print drops to a vertical raster deflection in timed relation with relative horizontal motion of the jet stream and a record medium. Selected print drops are individually deflected fractional amounts in either the horizontal or vertical direction prior to the vertical raster deflection to cause the selected print drops to be deposited at positions intermediate the coordinate intercepts of a rectilinear matrix pattern to cause dot matrix characters to be printed with arcuate line segments and various angles corresponding with conventional character shapes.
