Abstract:
An apparatus and method for detecting channel quality in a mobile communication system are provided. The method includes detecting a channel quality of a first channel quality detection period using a reference value of a reference signal; determining whether a reference value can be measured in a second channel quality detection period being one of a plurality of channel quality detection periods following the first channel quality detection period; and detecting a channel quality of the second channel quality detection period according to the determination.
Abstract:
A circuit connection control system of a fuel cell includes a point connection portion to which an anode current collecting portion and a cathode current collecting portion of each unit cell are electrically connected, a voltage measuring unit that measures an output voltage of each unit cell, a switching unit connecting the anode current collecting portions and the cathode current collecting portions of the plurality of unit cells at the point connection portion; and a DC-DC converter that converts a voltage generated from the fuel cell to a predetermined voltage. A method of operating the circuit connection control system includes measuring an output voltage of each unit cell; detecting a first unit cell showing an output voltage lower than a predetermined first voltage; and connecting the first unit cell in parallel to a second unit cell.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for providing a service guide for a mobile broadcast (BCAST) service in a wireless communication/broadcast system supporting the BCAST service. If there is a need to provide a service guide in the mobile broadcast system, a Service Guide Subscription Source (SGSS) delivers a subscription and provisioning source, and a purchase and promotional source, to a BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation block. The BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation block then generates and provides a service guide using the sources.
Abstract:
A Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction apparatus and method in an OFDM communication system are provided. In the PAPR reduction method, magnitude and phase components are extracted from transmission sample data. Peaks having magnitude components exceeding a threshold are detected by comparing the extracted magnitude components with the threshold. The highest of the peaks is detected and compared with the threshold. If the highest peak is greater than the threshold, the highest peak is updated.
Abstract:
A liquid fuel cartridge and a direct liquid feed fuel cell system having the liquid fuel cartridge. The direct liquid feed fuel cell system includes: a housing having a cartridge inserting groove and a longitudinal opening in the cartridge inserting groove; a fuel cell located in the housing and composed of cathode and anode electrodes and an electrolyte membrane; a liquid fuel cartridge that contains a liquid fuel, inserted into the cartridge inserting groove, to supply the liquid fuel to the anodes; and a fuel transport unit to transport the liquid fuel from the liquid fuel cartridge to the anodes, wherein the liquid fuel is supplied to the fuel transport unit when the liquid fuel cartridge is rotated in a first direction and the supply of the liquid fuel is disconnected when the liquid fuel cartridge is rotated in an opposite direction.
Abstract:
A fuel cell system is provided with a first separation layer and a buffer solution layer disposed between a liquid-phase fuel storage layer and an anode of a membrane electrode assembly. A vapor-phase fuel is transferred to the buffer solution layer through the first separation layer, condensed, and diluted to produce a liquid-phase fuel with a low concentration in the buffer solution layer, and the low concentration liquid-phase fuel is supplied to the membrane electrode assembly. A second separation layer may be interposed between the first separation layer and the fuel storage layer. Fuel is supplied by a passive supplying method so that the system can be small with a high efficiency and unnecessary power consumption can be prevented. The fuel cell system can be operated regardless of orientation.
Abstract:
In a communication system using an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) scheme, at least one value mapped to the number of threshold subchannels is compared with the number of subchannels allocated to a signal transmission apparatus in an associated Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbol when transmission data including m bits is input. In response to a comparison result, (m−k) bits are generated from the transmission data using at least one of clipping and rounding. The (m−k) bits are converted to an analog signal and the analog signal is transmitted. The number of threshold subchannels is preset to determine whether to use clipping, rounding or both.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for effectively allocating frequency resources in a mobile communication system. The method includes: determining a first offset of a preset frequency band from among all frequency bands, determining a second offset corresponding to a symbol unit in the preset frequency band, and allocating frequency resources to data, the frequency resources corresponding to a sum of the first offset and the second offset.
Abstract:
A synchronization extraction apparatus for a communication system and a method thereof are disclosed. A frame synchronization is obtained in a manner that the sum of an input signal and a delay signal is obtained without obtaining a simple correlation value between the input signal and the delay signal, and then a correlation value between a summed signal and the delay signal is obtained. The synchronization extraction apparatus and method can reduce the implementation complexity and power consumption in obtaining the frame synchronization, and thus increase the battery cycle of a terminal provided with the synchronization extraction apparatus or method.
Abstract:
Improved techniques for calculating decision parameters in an IMT-2000 system is disclosed. In an apparatus for calculating decision parameters, there is provided a correlation value calculation unit having a number of correlation value calculators, each of which calculates a correlation value between selected information that is selected at the mini-slot selection unit and one of capable input signals. In order to selectively operate the correlation value calculators, there is provided a correlation circuit control unit controlling the operation of each of the correlation value calculators by using each of the comparison between the received correlation value to a predetermined threshold value. Accordingly, the power consumption of the correlation value calculators is reduced. And, the decision parameter is selected from the decision parameters previously selected during the divided monitoring section, thereby enabling high-speed cell search.
