Abstract: An exhaust treatment component may be mounted in brackets, each bracket having a clamping surface which in a use orientation is arranged in parallel with a corresponding mounting surface of a fixed mount, the mounting surfaces defining adjustment planes which are spaced apart along a length axis of the mount. Each bracket may be adjusted independently in its use orientation to define a variable clamping position in the adjustment plane. In another aspect, the component may be mounted in one or more brackets, each bracket comprising curved contact surface, each surface being defined by an arc of a respective circle, each arc being contained in the circle of the other respective arc, whereby the centre points of the respective circles are spaced apart in the reference plane so that each arc is contained in the circle of the other respective arc. The component can be clamped to the bracket irrespective of its diameter.

Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for operating an internal combustion engine in a transition operating mode, comprising the steps of determining an initial fuel oxidizer ratio threshold and a demanded fuel oxidizer ratio for a fuel mixture to be supplied to a combustion chamber of the engine, if the demanded fuel oxidizer ratio exceeds the initial fuel oxidizer ratio threshold, the engine is temporally operated in a raised response mode, in which a fuel oxidizer ratio threshold is increased from the initial fuel oxidizer ratio threshold to a raised fuel oxidizer ratio threshold, and a fuel mixture having the demanded fuel oxidizer ratio is supplied into the combustion chamber of the engine.

Abstract: A flowhood assembly 1 comprises an injector 30 which is fixable to a mount 50 in a number of alternative mounted positions defined by rotation of the injector about an injection axis X2 relative to the mount. The injector 30 includes one or more coolant ports 34, 35 which are connected in use to a supply of liquid coolant C. The mount 50 is fixable to a flowhood 10 in an upright, design orientation and in alternative connected positions defined by rotation of the flowhood 10 relative to the mount 50 about a connection axis X1. In a normal use position of the assembly the connection axis X1 of the flowhood is arranged at a predefined angle, optionally 0°, relative to a nominal horizontal plane P1. The injector 30 is not fixable to the mount 50 other than in the alternative mounted positions. In use in the normal use position, and in each of the alternative mounted positions of the injector, the injection axis X2 of the injector is oriented downwardly away from the injector relative to the horizontal plane P1, and at least one of the coolant ports 34, 35 is arranged above the horizontal plane P1 which passes through the injection axis X2 at an outlet end 32 of the nozzle.

Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a method of reducing output torque deficits during the launch of a vehicle having a continuously variable transmission, wherein the variator has an input connected to a prime mover and an output. The method comprises the steps of determining a rate of change of ratio in the transmission, and predicting a required motor speed ratio rate of change value of the variator on the basis of: (i) the determined rate of change of ratio in the transmission, and (ii) the configuration of the transmission. The speed of the variator output is adjusted so as to achieve the required motor speed ratio rate of change value.

Abstract: A launch control method is provided for a vehicle having an accelerator, a brake and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The method comprises determining: (i) a braking torque set by a vehicle operator by pressing a brake pedal of the vehicle; and (ii) a holding torque required to hold the vehicle in a stationary position. The method also determines that the operator has released the brake pedal. The brake is released whilst engaging a launch clutch of the CVT, wherein the launch clutch is engaged by increasing a clutch engagement pressure at a first pressure ramp rate, such that the sum of the braking torque and a clutch torque of the clutch remains equal to the holding torque. An acceleration torque requested by the operator via the accelerator is determined. The clutch engagement pressure is increased at a second pressure ramp rate when it is determined that the braking torque is substantially zero, such that the clutch torque is increased by the acceleration torque. A fixed minimum pressure ramp rate is stored, wherein the minimum pressure ramp rate increases the clutch engagement pressure towards a maximum engagement pressure. The current pressure ramp rate is compared with the minimum pressure ramp rate, and the clutch engagement pressure is switched to the minimum pressure ramp rate if the current pressure ramp rate is less than the minimum pressure ramp rate.
